I"m more concerned with what a candidate will do with taxes, the economy, terrorism, govt spending, etc. than I am about what he/she thinks about pyramids.

Since he has clearly shown that evidence is not important to him, aren't you curious about how many of these things he will do are based on evidence and how many are due to his wacky beliefs?
You are generalizing. He stated his belief about pyramids. That doesn't mean "that evidence is not important to him". I trust Carson more than any of the democrats running and will vote for him if he is the republican nominee. I couldn't care less about his thoughts on pyramids.

How do I determine when he is making decisions based on his wacky superstitions and when he is making decisions based on clear evidence?
Not sure...that's up to you to figure out. What you call "wacky superstitions" is part of his religious beliefs.

I don't give people a pass because they throw the "religious beliefs" flag. Should I give someone a pass because of their religious belief in 72 virgins? What if someone makes a decision about the Middle East (which is a powderkeg) based on those religious beliefs? People may like to pretend Evolution and the Big Bang don't matter, but they're merely symptoms of a mindset.

I prefer candidates who evaluate actual evidence rather than what they were brainwashed to believe. At least if they believe in evidence, they are open to new evidence. Not so they guy who prefers his wacky superstitions.

"Brainwashed to believe..." is a very interesting choice of words.

Are you sure what you are being shown is the whole truth ? ? ?

:dunno

If we continue to eat our own over silly crap, we will have President Hillary.

Is that what you want?

I'd rather see a candidate who at least lives in the real world. Someone who makes up random stuff to believe, entirely contrary to actual evidence or the real world, is dangerous. How do I know when he will believe in reality and when he will wander off into his weird superstitions which don't even match what the majority of Christians believe?

I prefer candidates who, at a minimum, live on planet Earth.

Opening up someone's skull and poking around in their brain is about as real as it gets...

It requires real moral courage and a certain philosophical bent that is fairly uncommon.

To put is simply... it takes balls of steel. And maybe that is what we need in a President ? ? ?

I have absolutely no idea who I am going to vote for at this point,
but I damned sure will not let a corrupt media make that decision.

Honeybunny is spot on here; some are allowing the media to play us.

If we let them do this, we will end up with Hillary in the White House.

I'm fairly certain Mr. Carson is more highly educated in the field of science / medicine than anyone here on the Hwy. Don't get me wrong, we have some smart folks here, but I would be quite surprised if we have any active or retired brain surgeons. I personally apologize if I'm wrong. I'm also fairly certain that throughout Mr. Carson's successful career it was imperative for him to rely on facts and evidence as he lived science in the real world while in the operating room, not just taught it in the classroom. To imply otherwise is, well, uneducated.

Harsh.

I think you're error is assuming that he does not. In my opinion his comment are no more random than your belief that he is not in touch with reality. It's your litmus test against his, I respect that even though mine differs. That's what makes it great to live in America, we vote for whomever tickles our fancy.

Mine has evidence.

Yours has evidence that Dr. Carson doesn't live on planet Earth?

The media isn't making any points with me either way.
I said a while back that Carson was not someone I could get behind, for president that is.
I think he would be a great guy for other jobs, some possibly even in government.

Just my opinion.
As far as the pyramids go, I don't know why he would believe what he believes, I would like to see what he bases his belief on, but of all the things the pyramids may be, grain storage is not one of them.
I don't think there is any doubt about that.
Bad bad bad utilization of manpower, resources and time to build something like that to store grain.
And by this time in the history of our world, we had grain storage down, for the most part.

Mr. Carson doesn't appeal to me as a viable candidate for the mere reason that I don't see him qualified to be POTUS. Sure, he's an intelligent guy and seems to be a very likable person, but I'm not voting for Surgeon General.

He isn't currently my first choice. Yes, I find him very intelligent. I find him likeable. I respect his faith. And, he would probably make a fabulous surgeon general. But, I'd still vote for him over Hillary or Bernie.

I'd vote for Bugs Bunny over Hillary or Bernie.

:ditto I guess my comment about world annihilation will happen before I vote for Hillary or Bernie is in another thread. :laugh

The media is trying to take him out.

Good reason to like him, IMO.

Anyone who holds beliefs contrary to evidence is unfit to serve as President. This includes fundamentalists who hold contrafactual beliefs such as young earth creationism and whatever this bizarre grain silo thing is. So he is two for two on the too blind to evidence to make rational decisions scale. I agree 100 percent with my squirrel buddy.

As I would fully expect, and that's not a bad thing. I personally prefer candidates who are open enough to reveal their thoughts and belief system rather than conceal them only to surprise us later. But that just me, and I'm only one vote.

It appears that the media has declared war on Carson.

Funny this happened right after he took the lead.
