I"m more concerned with what a candidate will do with taxes, the economy, terrorism, govt spending, etc. than I am about what he/she thinks about pyramids.

Since he has clearly shown that evidence is not important to him, aren't you curious about how many of these things he will do are based on evidence and how many are due to his wacky beliefs?
You are generalizing. He stated his belief about pyramids. That doesn't mean "that evidence is not important to him". I trust Carson more than any of the democrats running and will vote for him if he is the republican nominee. I couldn't care less about his thoughts on pyramids.

How do I determine when he is making decisions based on his wacky superstitions and when he is making decisions based on clear evidence?
Not sure...that's up to you to figure out. What you call "wacky superstitions" is part of his religious beliefs.

I don't give people a pass because they throw the "religious beliefs" flag. Should I give someone a pass because of their religious belief in 72 virgins? What if someone makes a decision about the Middle East (which is a powderkeg) based on those religious beliefs? People may like to pretend Evolution and the Big Bang don't matter, but they're merely symptoms of a mindset.

I prefer candidates who evaluate actual evidence rather than what they were brainwashed to believe. At least if they believe in evidence, they are open to new evidence. Not so they guy who prefers his wacky superstitions.
This whole pyramid thing is simply meant as a hit job on Carson. Sure, he believes it and that is his right. I'm actually impressed that he stands by his beliefs instead of going the PC route. If his belief on pyramids is the worse thing about him then he would make an incredible president.

You are free to believe what you will, nothing wrong with that. But I have to ask, wouldn't any other group be better than the clowns we currently have? Being completely serious, our current idiot in chief (I feel as strongly against him as you do Carson) has the most radical group of advisers in modern history. We've endured 7 years of him, you can survive 4 of Carson, I'm sure of it.

If we continue to eat our own over silly crap, we will have President Hillary.

Is that what you want?

Personally I would prefer a Christian religious nut over a scientist who disregards the spiritual realm. In that case, what would happen if the scientific data showed the time is right to destroy earth? All things being considered equally, that is a possibility.

Luckily, Mr. Obama is not one of the current candidates. So that makes this entire point moot.

I'd rather see a candidate who at least lives in the real world. Someone who makes up random stuff to believe, entirely contrary to actual evidence or the real world, is dangerous. How do I know when he will believe in reality and when he will wander off into his weird superstitions which don't even match what the majority of Christians believe?

I prefer candidates who, at a minimum, live on planet Earth.

Everyone has their own traits they look for in a candidate, as well as warning signs that keeps them from others. The bigger concern is the intelligence level of the active voting population. As it continues to fall the more wacky candidates we will elect.

I think you're error is assuming that he does not. In my opinion his comment are no more random than your belief that he is not in touch with reality. It's your litmus test against his, I respect that even though mine differs. That's what makes it great to live in America, we vote for whomever tickles our fancy.

Were you seriously considering voting for him before this pyramid thing came up?

I really don't want to mess up your birthday so I'll bow out. I do respect your views though, I trust you do others as well.

No, and for similar reasons. He is superstitious. People who ignore evidence in favor of their superstitions are dangerous.

What does a birthday matter? If you have evidence that I'm wrong, you should decimate me, and my feelings be damned. Reality is more important.

Sorry, that's just not my style. It's not important enough to go to that length. You said it correctly earlier, it's a moot point. We'll each vote for our candidate regardless and the one with the most electoral votes wins (unless if comes down to OH, VA, IL, or FL just to name a few).

If you like Carson then that's cool with me.
After all, I live with a woman who likes Hillary.
I really appreciate Mr. Carson standing by his beliefs.
However, I cannot ever vote for someone who, like Waski says, ignores facts because...I have no idea why he is ignoring facts, anymore than I could vote for someone who says that the Holocaust never happened.

Why is the pyramid thing important?
Because it shows whether someone is able to look at facts and draw reasonable conclusions.
Or, do they ignore facts to keep whatever beliefs, for whatever reason.
If you are Joe Blow, then no big deal, but if you are the leader of the free world, big deal.

If my not wanting someone that ignores facts just to.....again, not exactly sure why he is ignoring facts, means that Hillary wins, that's not my fault.
That's the fault of the people who couldn't find a better person to oppose him.
Don't blame me because you/they couldn't find a candidate who doesn't ignore reality.

You could start by reading his books, instead of relying on media sound bites
that a designed to elicit a predictable response. None of these stories about
Carson are relevant to the issues. The media is desperately attempting to paint
the successful and accomplished doctor as some kind of fanatical fruitcake,
while completely ignoring his compelling and competent record of groundbreaking
medicine and philanthropy. The same media who is still covering up Barack Obama's
sordid past. They have interviewed every childhood acquaintance of Ben Carson,
but have yet to find a single person who went to college with our current President.

You are being influenced by a carefully crafted narrative. :girlsaysno
