Amazon Logistics

Amazon Logistics is basically a freight brokerage service. Obviously they don't have enough of their own equipment to keep up with the delivery demands so they sub-contract to other approved carriers for delivery service. The subs are committing to particular shipments which is why AL shows them as shipped, but the subs are not meeting the delivery parameters and more than likely not communicating the service failure to AL in a timely manner. AL needs to get a handle on it and pronto, before people lose faith in their ability to timely deliver purchased items. Based on my experience in the freight brokerage business I'm certain that's where most of the service failure is occurring. Maybe they could hire me to fix the problem. Of course it would cost them $10 Million....no....$10 Billion dollars.

UPS is getting hit hard by customers. :( People do not understand what 40 million extra above the highest peak means. Heck, I can not even fathom that amount. They made a statement and then Fed Ex said that they are experiencing volume too but have it under control. o_OThat is not a truthful statement. I wanted to ask about the hundreds if not a thousand packages shrink wrapped outside one of their local warehouse that has not moved for days and a few of my packages that are still missing. That is what I know, how much more is there?
A joint statement about all of these issues would have been so nice. :sigh: UPS knows this is just an avalanche they are digging through the best they can, you can not plan for something so unprecedented.

Though really how were they going to get more hours in a day? :p I do not know what this means for UPS in the future though, was this an anomaly or the next new wave of how peak season will forecast?

I suspect the stores are going to have to rethink the entire "Cyber Week" thing. The carriers cannot move the volume of sales being generated. Nobody can charge for the order until it's "Shipped" so they are dumping it on the loading docks, calling it shipped, and hoping the carriers can get it. What a mess.

My Monitor is still in limbo somewhere. It was out for delivery all day yesterday, then at 10:00 PM, that vanished again and went back to In Transit. This morning it's NOT showing as out for delivery, so I'm convinced ShoeDiva is right and it's actually not even in ATL yet. What a mess. Good thing I wasn't counting on it getting here.

I can only pray they rethink that week!
Today I received my package from NJ.
It shows the arrival in NJ, then today out for delivery in Atlanta
Delivered.
No one knows how it got from NJ to the truck it was supposed to be on and at my house.
At this point all logic is out the window.

I had to file a dispute with my CC this morning over Kohls. They are generating shipping labels, charging me, and then the packages are not being picked up or taken to facilities. They literally wrote me an email saying it is my fault that the packages are lost because my account automatically gets an exception right after they print a shipping label to change from UPS Surepost to UPS Ground. I asked how it was my fault or even UPS when they are not even lost, but not shipped? I asked them for proof it was shipped and they said they made a label. Yeah, well I can make labels all day long, does not mean I shipped anything. They told me to just keep checking on the tracking number, but since they created a label and I upgraded it (it's automatic) they are out of it and my package must be lost or stolen. They are not doing anything further.

SERIOUSLY. That was the response.

And that would be the last I ever purchased from them.

It took Staples 3 days from the label generation until UPS acknowledged getting the package.

I have a second package coming that I was finally able to get a tracking number on and it's UPS too.

At least they are more honest with the tracking for it. It seems to mainly be an ATL thing. The stuff is getting to ATL, but they can't deliver out here in the boonies.

12/04/2017 10:00 A.M. Due to operating conditions, your package may be delayed. / Delivery will be rescheduled.

I may have to expand our business and apply to be a AL service provider.

On 2nd thought, naw....I wouldn't want a particular person here upset with me if their shoes or wine were delivered late.

:llama:

Two packages out for delivery via UPS yesterday never showed up. Today they just show "origin scan" in Atlanta again. DHL still can't find the LA post office. Fed Ex now has just stopped even tracking one package saying that the tracking number that was fine yesterday is not valid. Can we postpone Christmas until January 25th?

Especially cat lovers. They aren't quite right upstairs.

It is not just Atlanta. Apparently the teamsters walked out yesterday and no packages were delivered. (Boston and somewhere else) I still have 4 packages coming from Kohls, those will definitely be the last four. o_O

Well, I guess UPS has given up on my packages. Neither package has had an update to the tracking info since the morning of the 4th. One still shows a scheduled delivery date of the 5th.

Gotta love their press releases:

It might take a little longer to get your e-commerce orders this holiday season.

Atlanta-based UPS has added one to two days to delivery times on an unspecified number of deliveries following record sales on Cyber Monday, a spokesman told The Wall Street Journal. United Parcel Service Inc. (NYSE: UPS) handles deliveries for many of the biggest retailers including Amazon.com Inc., Wal-Mart Stores Inc. and Macy’s Inc.

One or two days???? I'd loved it if it was only a day or two late. UPS has officially had it for a week already, Staples claimed they had it two days more days before they acknowledged that they got it.

I'm attempting to avoid e-shopping until this mess is cleaned up. However, I had to order a part for my dishwasher (without it, our marriage is over) from GE last night, I picked USPS, it was cheapest and I figure might actually get here quicker.

It is probably in the building. On one of the hundred pallets or out in the locked trailers. (I have one with yesterday as a delivery date too, not here, and not updated) There are more packages then you can imagine waiting to be delivered. I do not know how they are going to get them all done, it seems impossible.

I have packages with UPS, FedEX, and USPS all in limbo. FedEx has sent me a text everyday since Friday telling me my packages would be delivered the next day. I am not sure what is more annoying; having no clue where my package is, or getting daily updates it is to be delivered and not showing up. I have given up on accurate info on my USPS ones too because I am getting random texts from them. I just received one stating my package was in the mail box, I had no clue which one and when I looked it up it was from 12/1, not the stuff I am waiting on.

I give up. I pretty much only shop online and now that the rest of the world has figured out the deals are just as good or better, they have joined. I did not invite them and want them to go away.

*For the sake of your marriage I do hope your part shows up on time!

Four packages, three carriers, one week, no updates since night before last when UPS just entered "arrival scan" on packages that were "out for delivery" on Monday. DHL is still driving around Los Angeles looking for a post office, and FedEx admits they "lost" a package, but say it probably isn't really lost even though the tracking number mysteriously disappeared from their system.
