Amazon Logistics

I guess I have been lucky with my Amazon orders this year. All have been on time or early, before and after Thanksgiving. It sucks to hear of all these problems but I am sure they are working on it as fast as they can. With my Father in Law being a former semi-truck driver for UPS I have a respect for everything those in shipping and delivery do.

Well, one of the packages now says it will be delivered today. But it doesn't show out for delivery, so we'll see.

The other says it will be delivered tomorrow on the Amazon site, but the UPS site says no updated info.

My UPS is now in "In Transit" limbo. Stuck there since 12/02. Maybe it really is in the truck from NJ to here. :)

I have a friend who's worked for UPS for many, many years now as local truck driver and now as supervisor. Yes, it's amazing what they do.

@Guard Dad @cptlo306 is right about the Sure post thing.

To all, my warning is this....do not wait until the last minute. Both UPS and FedEx are playing a huge catch up. Since this years Black Friday and Cyber Monday turned into deals beginning on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving through the Friday after Black Monday it has been a mess. There are not enough planes, trucks, or people to deliver all these packages. (Actually my husband spent 3 hours Saturday with all his contacts and both the two major companies have rented every Uhaul and Ryder truck in the Metro area and there are no more to get. They were trying to get more to send out supervisors and managers) There are only so many hours that these people can work and even with helpers, rental trucks, borrowed planes, the packages are too much. I know of a location of a delivery company, not the one I am affiliated with, that the warehouse is so overflowing they literally have pallets of packages shrink wrapped and sitting outside the building. Most of the packages are not lost (I would never say all) but they are not being tracked as normal because there is no one to track them or whole trailers and containers are getting scans at once that seem to not make sense. In my case, I know I have 4 overnight packages sitting in a trailer in New Jersey. At least I know they are there and I will get them...eventually. They are working 7 days a week and it is not enough. My husband is working 18 hours a day and has 6 hours off. That 6 hours includes getting back home and back to work. This is insanity. I expect it the week of Christmas. This started before December 1st hit.
I feel for all of these folks. Perhaps the best thing for all of the package delivery companies to do would be to fess up. basically say what you just said. Tell people that they are doing the best they can, and offer some perk to recipients whose package was late. The shippers are already going to go through the roof and demand compensation because they are right now fielding calls from angry customers. A little public humility might go a long way right now.

Well, my second "In Transit" line vanished and another "Out to Delivery" showed up in its' place. :)

This is almost getting comical. Thank goodness I don't have a deadline on this monitor, it was just a good deal and I'd been thinking about it.

If I'd needed it for work or something, yea, they'd be fielding some serious calls.

We're shipping a server from Baltimore to a Customer location today that needs to be installed on Friday. Hope it makes it in time.

Guys this is going to get worse before it gets better. The teamsters literally have called drivers and told them the contract states that they have two consecutive days off. Many did not show up for work today. I am so worried about the stress that the managers are going through. On a good note, husband located 14 UHauls, 40 miles away, but he authorized them to be delivered anyway. It is a small victory in this large disaster.

FYI you can call, shippers can call, but honestly the tracking is wrong and it is just going to get your blood pressure up. There are all kinds of new people and seasonal hires that are making mistakes that are being caught, but create even more messes than they already have.

I agree with LTD and wish they would just make a public statement, but I think they are scared to lose business. The thing is, it is all of them. They talk and they all know it is an insane amount of packages to make service time on, if they would issue a joint statement at least people would know what is going on with their items.

Fed Ex delivered a package to me today that is still showing in New York. Sadly it was in the original box and son saw his Christmas present, but what are you going to do? I did not know it had even left the facility in NY. Just another FYI if you are getting presents in original packaging.

Fingers crossed for your server.

This thread sounds like a win for the brick and mortar shops. Small victory but I'm sure they'll take it. Good luck to all waiting on packages.

I HATE SHOPPING!!!

They're making a comeback. Rumor has it people are ticked off about their online orders not be received timely.

If I have an option to pick it up locally, I'll more likely than not do it next time.

No Monitor tonight either. I'm waiting for the status to turn back to "In Transit"

Not Amazon, but UPS. My wife ordered a countertop oven online, and it was being shipped via UPS. She followed the progress from the vendor's origin point for the past few days. The oven was scheduled to be delivered today. My wife saw the UPS truck drive around the neighborhood, and saw it stop at a couple of places on the next street over from us. Then, she checked the shipment status, and it said Delivered. Not only that, it also had a note from the UPS driver that said "Met the customer man".
Well, the package was NOT delivered, and we were here all afternoon. I never met the UPS man. My wife called UPS, and they had the driver call her when he got back from his route. He said he delivered the package to a site that is nowhere near where we are. (We are in a very large RV park). Tomorrow we'll go over to where the UPS driver said he delivered the oven and see if we can recover it. Of course, this is an RV park, and those people may be gone.

I have to give Amazon credit. Ever since they said they would flag my account to attempt to use carriers other than Amazon Logistics, that has been the case. They initially said it would take up to 3 weeks for it to kick in but I've had 8 orders since then and none have been delivered or are being delivered by Amazon Logistics. It's certainly a small sample size but I was getting probably 80% via Amazon Logistics before.
