Amazon Logistics

Sigh. Package went on the truck "out for delivery" at 8:00 am this morning. At 10:00 PM tonight, it updated to back at the destination again. Carp. Now won't be delivered until Monday at the earliest. Double Carp. This was for a package scheduled to be delivered by Thursday morning.

Considering that the package appears to be lost based on the tracking info, they will likely never get it back so I get to complain to their chat help again next week to fight for a refund..

Surprisingly I was wrong about this. They have already issued a refund. Good for Amazon....finally.

I don't know why they are moving so slowly to fix this delivery issue. It's going to hurt them big time if they don't fix it soon. Walmart is currently their biggest competitor and they will be able to capitalize on this to gain a bigger footprint if Amazon continues down it's current path.

I wonder if they will have to rethink this entire "Cyber Monday" "Cyber week" think if the delivery chain can't provide within a reasonable period when the peak hits.

If I hadn't been wishy-washy about the purchase I could have gone to the store and just picked one up and had it a week ago, but I waited until after the stores had closed.

I know this has made me concerned about ordering anything during this month that has a deadline, or I'd like quickly.

I gotta say I've been impressed with DHL lately. I've placed three international orders over the last three weeks. One was from China that arrived in two days. The other two were from France. First one arrive in two days on time. The second one was shipped late Friday and was delivered before noon today. I didn't even know DHL delivered on Sundays.

I had a package that was shipped USPS that was due yesterday, but it did arrive today. Not too bad, considering.

My other two packages are still in never never land.

Hey @ShoeDiva - What's the difference between UPS and UPS Surepost?

I think packages sent via UPS Surepost get transferred to USPS for actual delivery. FedEx has a similar thing with Smartpost.

DHl is good for international shipments. Domestically, they literally deliver it to the US Post Office, or as I said lose it on the way to the post office. I ordered something from California 8 days ago. They shipped it last Tuesday. Tracking still says "left sellers facility on way to the carrier". The "DHL" tracking number is actually a USPS tracking number, so I contacted the USPS. They said that the tracking info was accurate, they have not received the shipment yet. So DHL picked it up Tuesday and still haven't gotten it to the Post office. Good job.

I contacted the shipper Saturday via e-mail and received an automated return message saying that they would be back in the office Monday at 9AM Pacific.

For comparison, I ordered something else similar from another vendor in California at the same time that arrived in three days straight USPS first class. I really like these guys. I ordered something rather odd from them last year that was out of stock in the US. I called them to see if they could drop ship it. They ordered it from China on a Monday and I received it that Saturday via China Post transferred to the USPS in San Francisco. Five days from China to Hiram via two old school post offices. Impressive, and less than half the cost of DHL or UPS standard international service..

Now I'm really confused. Back in Transit again? Arrrgg.

@Guard Dad @cptlo306 is right about the Sure post thing.

To all, my warning is this....do not wait until the last minute. Both UPS and FedEx are playing a huge catch up. Since this years Black Friday and Cyber Monday turned into deals beginning on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving through the Friday after Black Monday it has been a mess. There are not enough planes, trucks, or people to deliver all these packages. (Actually my husband spent 3 hours Saturday with all his contacts and both the two major companies have rented every Uhaul and Ryder truck in the Metro area and there are no more to get. They were trying to get more to send out supervisors and managers) There are only so many hours that these people can work and even with helpers, rental trucks, borrowed planes, the packages are too much. I know of a location of a delivery company, not the one I am affiliated with, that the warehouse is so overflowing they literally have pallets of packages shrink wrapped and sitting outside the building. Most of the packages are not lost (I would never say all) but they are not being tracked as normal because there is no one to track them or whole trailers and containers are getting scans at once that seem to not make sense. In my case, I know I have 4 overnight packages sitting in a trailer in New Jersey. At least I know they are there and I will get them...eventually. They are working 7 days a week and it is not enough. My husband is working 18 hours a day and has 6 hours off. That 6 hours includes getting back home and back to work. This is insanity. I expect it the week of Christmas. This started before December 1st hit.

Wow!

Amazon Logistics still sucks. :D

The package never even departed NJ....;)
Seriously those notifications are completely "off" but your package is still getting tracked and scanned. While the scans might not (OK, they are not) be accurate they are still being scanned which means it is still in the system and not lost. I wish I could tell you when they will show up but since the CEO had his tickets lost for the Georgia game and even after numerous emails and many a threat they are still in transit somewhere ........I can't. (He did get into the game somehow.)

It is very crazy this year.
Amazon Logistics rented a couple of trucks and when husband was on the phone and they told him they had a couple I heard him ask why do they need them (I asked Who? ....this was after working Saturday he was calling peoples cell phones from home...) I said that he should tell them they suck anyway, tell them to bring back the trucks and let him have them. :cheesy:

@ShoeDiva - Did Shoe hubs find any answers to mine?

If not, don't worry about it. He has bigger problems.
Your two and my 4 my husband has flagged for notifying him when someone has their actual hands on them. They are all reading in transit which he thinks that someone is marking for all the packages locked in trailers. (They do not have a holding in trailer button) He said that he should know more in the morning because this weekend was supposed to be a big catch up and the oldest trailers on yards should be emptied....we shall see.

Tell him I sincerely appreciate it. I know he has much more to worry about than me, even if I am special. :D

You are special alright.......:whacko:

I will tell him. At this point he is only trying to find mine and yours (and any CEOs that call him) otherwise he is just telling people as long as they see tracking it is out there. He is putting out fires all over the district. It is a worldwide issue though, so it is all management with massive headaches and problems.

Thanks for the info Diva - That helps a lot.
I wish I could do more. Normally I can help. Husband can find anything. Even stuff damaged out and sent to over goods. If you want it he can get it back for you. This has become a beast of another nature. When he can not call NJ and tell them to get my overnight packages here...I knew it was bad.
