US General: Half of All Afghan District Centers Under Taliban Control

Taking all the weaponry back would have meant a lot more flights and expense. Believe it or not, it would have been a hell of a lot less expensive in the long run to destroy all those things than to fly it out of there.
I'm OK with destroying it. Just keep it out of the enemy's hands

To aid in getting all American citizens and Afghans that helped us during the last 20 years out safely. Then get out and let them destroy their own country.
I'm telling you right now, it would not work. Here's what you are facing trying to get all the Americans out. They're scattered all over Afghanistan and we have no idea where many of them are or for that matter exactly how many there are because they didn't follow the established protocols. They were required to report to the embassy on arrival to build a list of who was there and where. These same people were told to report back to the embassy when they were departing the country, but did not.

The only air base we control right now is in Kabul. How do you suggest to locate and retrieve Americans scattered all across a country slightly smaller than Texas? Don't forget the possibility of being attacked while doing it.

It looks like the Afghanistan crisis is now over.

Just this morning, I read on The Daily Mail that the Taliban have vowed to fight climate change.

( no, it's not an article from the Onion; I wish it was.)

Rest Easy, My Friends

==============================

The Taliban has vowed to tackle climate change and global security as part of the terror group's attempt to rebrand itself and modernise despite reports of civilian executions and the erosion of women's rights under the new Afghan regime.

Abdul Qahar Balkhi, a member of the Taliban's Cultural Commission, says the Islamists want to play a role on the global stage.

He told Newsweek: 'We hope not only to be recognised by regional countries but the entire world at large as the legitimate representative government of the people of Afghanistan who have gained their right of self-determination from a foreign occupation with the backing and support of an entire nation after a prolonged struggle and immense sacrifices despite all odds being stacked against our people.

'We believe the world has a unique opportunity of rapprochement and coming together to tackle the challenges not only facing us but the entire humanity.

'These challenges ranging from world security and climate change need the collective efforts of all, and cannot be achieved if we exclude or ignore an entire people who have been devastated by imposed wars for the past four decades.'

Afghan translator on the phone with Fox News...says his family is still in Afghanistan and he fears they will be killed. He said the Taliban is somewhat playing nice around Kabul because of the press coverage, but in other provinces they are hunting down Americans and anyone who worked with us and publicly executing them.

Wonder how long it will take before the hostage crisis ???

I give it a couple of weeks before the Taliban is parading around with blindfolded American citizens...

:dunno:
Sadly I have to agree.

Then again, are they THAT stupid? They're already humiliating us on the world stage and have now regained their dominance. Do they push their luck too far and gamble on running the risk of a swift retaliation?

:greet1:

Ok, you above with your hand up...what do you think?

"Yes, they are that stupid and, yes, they will gamble."
