Can the Gay lifestyle be washed away by our Lord, Jesus?

I think it is hilarious that throughout this thread homosexuality has been equated to a disease and now a criminal act.

I've equated it to genes. :dunno

No research has ever proven that... Could I offer to recommend equating it to a cross to bear?

There has been no conclusory evidence and homosexuality is definitely a cross that they have to bear (whether they have a "choice" or not) - they are treated like lepers and condemned by a lot of Christians.

However, there has been research on the issue and I think there is something to it. I don't believe homosexuality can be compared to cancer or other "disease," but I do think it can be compared with other genetic conditions (as in they are born with the gene or some other factor and the degree of it can vary based on other factors).

I know this is a stretch (remember, I'm a Baptist), but I think a lot more research needs to be done in this area. If research ultimately concludes that this is impossible, then okay, I'm wrong, but it hasn't determined that yet. In general, I don't think most gay people want to be gay, so I don't believe it is done purely by "choice" - if it was, it would be a lot easier to "convert" them back to being straight.

Wait a minute, Cheezy and LisaC,

When I wrote that SSA was a cross to bear, I did not mean it was a choice--far from it! Jesus did not choose the cross--in fact, He asked the Father to take it from Him.

I would make it better but I am trying not to get booted by the "Hiddens" for questioning the "Untouchables".

I bet you look really sexy in tin foil. ::)

It is pretty sexy. Check your PM's big fella!! :D

I agree 100% with GD when he said, "I am not a fan of the "Pray Away The Gay" movement because I feel it's not terribly effective and in reality it probably makes the church look silly and mean. But I do believe that God can change hearts."
(And He changes our desires as well)

Genevieve...I love reading your posts. You have a gracious way of making your point and I truly appreciate that. The love in your heart, behind what you debate, is there and it shows. Thank you for taking the time to share. :love

Finally, I wish people could understand that there is a huge difference in being "religious" and being a disciple.

Ok, screw the homosexuals. Not literally though. Lets get off the homo topic for a second. I am on the edge of believing and have been for some time. Hell, we plan on going back to church this Sunday. One of the only problems I have is that when I question to a strong believer, and I mean serious questions and sometimes "Stupid childish"(Dinosaurs) questions, not like the smart ass ones I post on here at times, I seem to either get the same answer, "Because" or I get shunned. No Christian has been able to answer my questions without casting me off as a heathen non-believer. Whenever I question an answer, I get the same response that PCO gave me, "You cant be reasoned with". Yet!!! If I ask a scientist a question, BOOM!!! He has an answer and facts to back up his answer.

In all seriousness, people might think you're just kidding or being sarcastic when you ask. I mean, it kinda is your M/O. ;D

Ask sincere questions and we'll try to answer as best we can.

The Catholic Church can answer any question you can come up with. If I don't know the answer myself, I'll look it up, and if I can't find the answer, I will ask a priest. Go ahead! Ask your question(s)...

P.S. I have always detected a note of sincerity underneath your shenanigans.

Start a new topic BBG. I think that would be a good one and I guarantee Gen will give you answers that are not "because." (I actually think others will too, but I am only guaranteeing Gen! :)) )

:hug I was posting as you were answering.

I've been reading this thread for awhile now without commenting. I can tell you that my heart is heavy. I am a Christian, so I believe that homosexuality is a sin because God's Word tells me it is. But like others here have said, no sin is bigger than any other, and we ALL sin (that's in Scripture, too.)

As Christians, I think we make our biggest mistake by constantly talking about what's WRONG instead of GOD'S GOODNESS and GRACE! Inside my head, I hear the words of a popular song over and over, "No one knows what we're FOR only what we're against when we judge the wounded."

I can tell you that I'm not the same person who I was 10 years ago, or even last year. God, through His grace, is always changing me and drawing me closer. It's what He does. But HE does it, not the ramblings or judgment of His people.

Christians need to quit bashing non-believers. It's NOT what we're called to do!!! Who would want to be a part of a relationship with a judgmental and uncaring God? It's not Who He is, and we are doing a disgrace to His work on the cross when we participate.

Yes, sin is sin, and we can't overlook it or sugar coat it. But "judgment" is only meant for the actions of fellow believers. Even then, it's motivation should ALWAYS be restoration into fellowship with God. Christians tend to point out the sin of others with piety and lack of compassion. If we just want to tear others down, rather than seeing them grow into an intimate relationship with God, WE ARE IN SIN OURSELVES!

God LOVES all people. He created each and every one of us for His purpose and His glory. He wants a personal relationship. The reason He hates sin is because it draws us away from Him. It stands in the way of others finding Him. He just wants us close to His side.

Think of your relationship with your children. When they do something wrong, you correct them, because you don't want them to be harmed, and you want them to be better people - to fulfill their purposes in their lives. You don't beat them down until they want to run away and never be around you again (at least, I hope you don't!) You teach them and correct them to bring them to a better place. And it makes your relationship with them better, too.

Our Heavenly Father is the same way! He loves us, He wants to spend time with us, He wants our best for us, and He wants His purposes for our lives fulfilled.

(I hope this has made sense. I've been typing in the midst of this crazy storm with the power flickering like mad! Love you all....if it doesn't make sense, I'll try to explain better later.) :)

:laugh That might not have been such a bad thing... :whistle :whistle Care to elaborate?

I was in my Deltas sitting in a pew. The head Catholic guy says "Let us pray". I bow my head. After a couple minutes of praying, I look up only to realize that I am the only one still sitting and not down on my knees and was getting odd looks. Then!!! Then everyone in the church starts reciting something in latin!!!! I thought they were speaking in tongues and I was just waiting for the snakes to come out. I almost peed.

I only see one person...beatboxingranny who won't listen to reason. I remember seeing his post before elsewhere about his wife and cancer and I am so sorry he continues to hurt. But blaming it on God won't change anything. Nearly most of my family are gone as well as my parents. I have my sisters, two uncles, one aunt, and cousins, nephews and nieces and that is all. I miss them everyday all of them that have passed but I had to move on and believe me, I wish they were here now as I could use their advice and all.

But I spoke and some will listen, others won't.

Chris - I think you have him confused with someone else. He's definitely not that person.

And let's please not get personal in the responses.
No, nothing personal...thought he was the same person.

By personal, he means you don't share or post other people's business....most of the time you will be wrong and it is not your business to share. As BBG's wife, I would like to tell you that you were wrong...I never have had and I do not currently have cancer.

that tends to be happening a lot ... sad and why was it Chris's place to tell everyone that in the 1st place

I am glad you are cancer free

I normally stay out of these threads because they make my heart break and blood boil.
I will not go through all these pages to read eeverything but will wright what I believe

I LOVE ALL PEOPLE.... red, yellow, black and white, gay, straight and bi, christians, non christians and even most the hwyers

SIN is sin... who am I to tell/judge someone else and telling them they live wrong when nobody lives sin free

do I live a gay life style...no do I know people who do...yes Everyone needs love in their life!!!! It is not my life to lead

I have seen "christians" turn their backs on their own kids for being gay. Christ would not have done that...just sayin
I used christians in quotes because they call them self that but have soooo much judgement and hate in there heart and giving true Christians a bad rap.

if you truly think someone is living the wrong kind of life then the only way to fix it is to lead by example instead of bully them and make them feel bad

anyway..I have tons more to type but I don't have the time and I am already cringing from all the typos that will be in here cause I am on my phone lol
