Can the Gay lifestyle be washed away by our Lord, Jesus?

Yes He can. In watching the lefties say no, not possible.....well my Facebook friend, Xgay Greg would state otherwise.

Greg states: "We are ALL born into this world as sinners! God then gives us a choice. We can either choose God or serve Satan. If we choose to live for God then we will no longer desire to sin and that includes homosexuality. God does love homosexuals, but he hates their sin along with all sin. Why: because God knows that as we live for Him we won't be depressed, angry, sad, or suicidal. With Him as our Savior, living a holy, righteous, pure life, we have peace no matter what is going on around us."

One of my best friends in Chicago had lived a lesbian lifestyle, but was changed through her own prayers and those of the community. She has been married for over twenty years to a man who had been in the gay lifestyle. Her process of healing took years and was very painful, yet profound. I witnessed some of it.

I skimmed through that conversation and would like to add a thoroughly Catholic argument that I believe is key to this discussion. That key is artificial birth control. In 1968, in his encyclical letter Humanae Vitae, Pope Paul VI taught that we must not separate the sexual act from the openness to procreation. The letter is very prophetic and predicts the issues we face today.

If we were to return to thinking of the sexual act as something done only in a traditional marriage that is open to having (more) children, then most of the moral dilemma in which we find ourselves disappears.

No offense Chris, but THIS is one of the very reasons I absolutely HATE organised religion! I just do not understand why ANY religion thinks that "their" religion is better then another religion and ONLY they have the right to control the lives of others! And if you do not walk lockstep with their beliefs, then you will burn in hell! I say BULL HOCKEY! Let people live how they want as long as they do not harm other people!

And to say that God will "fix" all gays is just asinine! You might be surprised who you've been sitting next to at church all this time! I've known some great gay people over the years, some I did not know they were until many years later. If that is their choice, then great. It does not make them any less a person if they are, even in God's eyes! To me it's the same as skin color. Does God really care if you have red, yellow, brown, black or green skin?

Don't get me wrong, I firmly believe in God as a higher power then man. But this is another discussion for a later time. I had a long response to this but decided this really wasn't the place for it.

God gave us each free will. I don't think God is going to change anyone who doesn't want to be changed. Will He present things to make you aware of things you have to change about yourself? Absolutely, but it's up to the individual to want to make the changes.

Let's look at marriages for instance. A husband smokes and the wife doesn't like it. She prays to God to make him stop smoking. Is God going to answer her prayer and make her husband stop smoking? I don't believe He will lay his hand on the husband's head and he'll instantly change and stop smoking. Will God put a conviction in the man's heart to stop smoking? I believe He would, if the man has a relationship with God.

^This^

If a person sincerely wants to change (any kind of change that is pleasing to God), God can give him/her the strength to do so if it's His will to do so.

EX: "She who adores me" asked God to give her the strength to stop smoking some years ago. She will tell you in no uncertain terms that it was only through Him that she put them down.

Religious people who want to "pray away the gay" are putting the cart before the horse. Want to change someone who lives a sinful lifestyle? Then help them to build a relationship with Jesus Christ. Then He has a willing vessel with which to work with.

Not to be mean, but we did 9 pages on this. No one is changing their mind or stance or another persons. It was a good discussion, but does it really need to be revisited?

No, but about the same hot topic? One that people will never change their thoughts, convictions, or beliefs? I just think that reiterating a conversation where everyone says that same thing they said the last time is not needed. We did a great job keeping it civil and discussing it, why chance that? :)) JMO

I have no real justification for shutting it down. It's within the rules, so no reason to not allow it at this point.

I guess I didn't really want it shut down. :dunno I just thought if I posted that we have done that, been there, people would read that. I guess 9 more pages won't kill anyone, but I can pretty much assure you it will all be the same. :))

There may be new members who would like to share their thoughts and hear about others thoughts.

Yo, Greg never said his religion is better than anyone else. He is amazing guy and with the power of the Lord, is no longer gay. And better yet, after 20 some odd years after having a vasectomy, his new wife is now pregnant.

God granted free will...period. Greg left his first wife and kids to lead a gay lifestyle. He lost a lot...and in 2006, he turned to God and now, he is free. Has nothing to do with organized religion. Greg had free will like we all do...he messed it up and returned to the grace of God and is healed. He goes all over the place with signs on his vehicles and everything and witnesses to thousands of people...it is now his mission that with Jesus, anything is possible, not impossible.

As you say, Gay doesn't harm, tell that to Greg as his sons from the 1st marriage still do not speak to him. So you cannot say that that it doesn't harm because it does. God loves all and He never denies that. He hates sin though and without redemption and accepting Him as their Savior, they harm themselves and most, not all Gays and Lesbians are atheists. And besides, Jesus isn't and wasn't gay either.

First, I didn't know another topic was done on this subject. As I said, Xgay Greg is a Facebook friend of mine and I decided to share his story and after seeing a topic elsewhere on the gay topic of praying away "gay" and seeing some of the absurd comments, I decided to show that yes, it can happen with the grace of Jesus if people let Him. It was not my intention to start any fights or anger but to point to an example that yes, with Jesus, anything can happen for the good. And yes, I am aware that some on here are gay but my intention was of good and not bad. We as Christians do very little of witnessing to others...well here on behalf of Xgay Greg, I submitted it as an encouragement that life doesn't have to be this way in such a lifestyle.

We even did such a service today in church about encouragement to others and our pastor asked that each of us do at least one to someone, anyone today. Well I was a day ahead of his sermon when I posted this last night. God Bless.
