Looks like we're going to Playa del Carmen with the younguns this May, and will be flying down to get on the boat. "She who adores me" has never flown before and is terrified to. We're thinking a "B.A. Baracus" approach might be necessary and knock her out with drugs before we go.

Okay, yes, I am easily confused. Flying down to get on the boat? I thought you said you were staying in Playa del Carmen?
If you are staying there, what resort? We have stayed in a couple different ones down there.

I think we take a boat over. Dunno which resort, daughter is setting it up.

Tell her I used to take early release from High School when I was 15 and go check out a Cessna to fy around the practice area of our local airport. There ain't nothing to it, just as long as there is lift under the wing and it dosen't stall....or get into a spin...or the engine doesn't fail....or one of those silly things that hardly ever occur ;D

I love Mexico and have been many times. My experience is, to some degree, they do not like Americans. I wouldn't go right now on a bet. Flying is nothing. We have flights at the end of the month. Since I don't sleep on planes (to little space to get comfortable) I just make sure I have something to read. That, and bubble gum.

They act completely differently the minute you speak Spanish to them. Even bad Spanish.

I will only say this..........please, please, please take all precautions when you go. Mexico is NOT the best place to be. Just a few short years ago, most of the country was ok to visit with the exception of the border towns. NOW, I am not to sure. I can say that most if not all of the guys I know will not go and visit their parents/friends any longer. They tell me it is too dangerous for them. I know this doesn't mean the resorts are that way but my guys are always telling me not to go anywhere. Just passing some news.

I agree. Just be sure you wash your hands obsessively and use hand sani when you can't. On my last cruise, a lot of the passengers got norovirus, but we were careful never to touch our mouth/nose/eyes after we'd been out somewhere and we avoided it, thank the Lord. If you've never been on a cruise, it's a treat.
