The Official Dallas Hwy 2022 Mid-term Election Thread

RCV in the Georgia senate race would probably have meant Walker would have been declared the winner since I'm guessing most of the Libertarian voters would rank him second.
This is true, and by the way, I figured out in the middle of the night why there is multiplicity in the choices. An example would be if candidate "D" has been eliminated and the #2 redistributed, then candidate "C" is eliminated and the #2 choice was "D", which no longer exists, so it then moves to their #3 choice. I suppose there is a scenario with write-ins and dead ties in D and E slots where it would come down to your #5 pick as a last ditch. At that point you would have to rely on the computer for a recount, and that is probably where the advantage lies.

I know everyone wants to blame Trump right now, and I get it, but if we blame him for everything we won't look at all the other reasons we lost.

A lot has changed, and we're in a situation where Conservatives can't hardly win now, and we have to change that.

The GOP was drifting downward before Trump pulled many back. For all his faults, the GOP needs to drift more Trumpward (in policy) if they want to win again.

Trump has to take a lot of responsibility here. He simply endorsed anyone who said, "Trump got screwed in the election." He didn't know squat about them other than they supported his belief he got screwed. Trump's focus at every rally he attended for those he endorsed wasn't on the issues, but on the 2020 election. That kept the news media constantly asking these candidates why they were denying the results of the election instead of on the issues. Because of that, the independents ignored them at the polls.

True, and we need to make new inroads with young people and more minorities. Simply put, we need to look more like common sense centrists with a plan to make life more enjoyable for everyone.

My point is...there's a whole lot more wrong, and if we just sit around and blame Trump for everything, we won't address all the other problems.

The GOP has lots of work to so, and I'm not sure they have a clue where to start.

There has been one significant problem with the Republicans. They forgot what the party is supposed to be about. They lost their way going way too far to the right. It's going to be guys like DeSantis who can turn the tide. I think Hispanics will listen to him more than any other candidate left or right. He's polished and stands his ground.

I don't know enough about DeSantis yet, but he got a giant boost from Ian and the way he handled it. I strongly suspect you like DeSantis because he is not Trump.
I like Cruise, Noem, Haley, and others. I think a great GOP ticket would be DeSantis/Noem. I never liked Trump because of how he acted with others. I liked his policies, but not his actions.

DeSantis is like Trump but nicer and more knowledgeable. DeSantis pushes back when needed but he isn't usually nasty with it like Trump frequently is (yes, I know Trump's nastiness doesn't bother lots of people, but it bothers enough to impact his electability). DeSantis is also far more knowledgeable about issues and better able to push back using that knowledge. Trump doesn't usually care about the facts other than if they make him look bad.

One thing that I think helps DeSantis greatly is his wife. She was previously a TV host and newscaster so she knows how to present things in ways that people can understand and appreciate.

She's also hot... :)
