Katie Britt is a University of Alabama graduate (got her law degree there), married to a former Bama football player Wesley Britt. God fearing family and good people. I wish her the best of luck in a hostile environment.

The GOP is one seat from having the House, and that race might be declared today.

Majority will be slim though, and many are questioning whether or not the GOP will stick together like the Democrats did. I suspect maybe not because the Republicans have more free thinkers than the Democrats do.

Also, looking like there will be a challenge to McCarthy for speaker.

Yeah, that's Trump's announcement tonight.

Well, not unexpected, but still a bummer. Same ol' same ol' from the GOP

Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy won the Republicans' designation for House speaker on Tuesday, but questions remain over his ability to lock up the spot on the floor in January.

McCarthy, R-Calif., beat back a challenge by more conservative elements in the House Republican Conference represented by Rep. Andy Biggs of Arizona. The final vote tally was 188-31.

AFAIK, we haven't discussed the local votes:

Commissioner Post 2 won by Sandy Kaecher with 71% of the vote
Commissioner Post 3 won by Virginia Galloway with 56% of the vote
Commissioner Post 4 won by Brian Stover with 71% of the vote
BOE District 6 won by Daniel Nolan with 66% of the vote.

Interesting that Post 3 is so much closer to be a competitive race for the Democrats.

SPLOST (Capital Projects) - Passed 60.85%
Home Exemptions (Co Operations) - Passed 77%
Home Exemptions (School Operations) - Passed 81%
Liquor Sales - Passed 73%
Dallas Redevelopment Powers - Passed 59%

Interesting the delta between the two Home Exemptions. You would think that one would vote for both or neither, not split the vote.

So us younger people can look forward to getting our exemption two years earlier. No name mentioned for those already getting the exemption. :)

Media is saying Kari Lake is the loser.

That's a huge disappointment and a bit of a surprise. She was actually a good candidate, and the incumbent refused to debate her.

I'm soooo happy that Katie Hobbs won the election!

Sincerely,

Fentanyl crossing our southern border

I get the satire, but it still hurts. A good friend of ours had her son die from Fentanyl this last August. This will be her first holiday season without him, and it's going to be bad. We're all circling the wagons for her, please say a prayer.
Sorry to hear - no offense intended.

Three years ago, a neighbor kid, Nick, died from a similar type of OD.
Heck, it's affected our own family and we dodged a bullet - Thank God.
