Covid is right here, and it's getting bad fast.

I will tell you right now. I have had many employees out with what seems to be the flu, starting with stomach ache, nausea, fever, headache, runny nose, congestion, sneezing.

They have all tested for covid, all came back negative, but they have been down for the count missing up to 4 days of work.

Why are we freaking out about the new Omicron? Truthfully... it is no more inconvenient than whatever cold or flu virus is going around currently.

Last pay period November 16th to 30th, I had 8 employees of 27 out sick. So far the past 5 days I have 2 more out... Ironically many of my employees continue to wear masks. (I think the masks are contributing to to keeping cold and flu viruses on the masks and concentrating exposure.) I don't wear a mask and have not been sick in years.

If the news was reporting on all the people getting a cold, no one would go out of the house either...

Look at how many daily get tested in San Diego... and only have a cold.

For instance last friday December 3, 2021: A total of 34,514 tests were reported to the county on Friday, with 4.2% returning positive over the past seven days.

34,514 people tested, only 1449 (4.2%) had covid. Potentially 30,000 were sick, got tested, but it was some other illness. (I'm figuring 3000 are not sick, and may be taking a test to travel internationally for instance.)

This is all about control and very dishonest of the news media to report on it the way they have... but we know the media is corrupt.

As long as the complications remain minor I'm fine with it. Increase herd / natural / whatever you call it...immunity.
I doubt the Omicron variant is factored into these numbers yet, so I wonder what is driving the increase.

As for Omicron...I tend to agree, it could turn out to be a good thing.

I heard all cases were of vaxxed... but that was a couple of days ago

Omicron variant found in nearly one-third of U.S. states

At least 16 U.S. states have reported Omicron cases: California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Utah, Washington and Wisconsin, according to a Reuters tally.

Many of the cases were among fully vaccinated individuals with mild symptoms, although the booster shot status of some patients was not reported.

.81. I'm not liking this.
I really think that the guy that controls this number knows you personally and just jukes it around to get you jangled. In the past 3 months I haven't heard of anyone I know of or live around that has had Covid - Alpha thru Delta or Omicron or Omega. I haven't heard of anyone with the Flu, herpes, Pneumonia, Shingles, hemorrhoids, Poison Ivy, bunions, Butt Boils or sinusitis. I did have a tooth ache two weeks ago, but a root canal fixed that. I'm just chillin' no matter what that number is because it has no relevance to how I live!!
That is all...

Sadly, I do know some who have recently had covid. But not a lot.

Sadly I know several, including myself, our oldest daughter, and our son-in-law. One of our good friends is still hospitalized (since 10/31), she can’t even walk to the bathroom yet without her oxygen level tanking and her b/p skyrocketing.

This tracking site is sponsored by some heavy hitters, so I think it's useful, but not necessarily the end all be all. I do think it has been a good indicator of general direction.

I'm kinda wondering though if the seasonal flu isn't being counted in these numbers. There is some of that going around, and I've been told by two nurses that the tests see them as almost the same thing.

My wife went into the Dr with a bad cough, and was given an covid test, but NOT a flu test, then sent home. I think the Flu numbers are seriously messed up.

We had a gentleman in our church have his leg amputated due to covid complications (clots) just a few weeks ago.

We have had a bug going around which seems like covid, but when tested is not... I am thinking it is probably the flu.

The poor parents are called from the school anytime the kids have a stomach ache, headache, sniffles, cough... then the kids get another stick up their nose... so far all the times being pulled out of school... none have had covid. However even if the next day they are fine, can't go back to school until they get the results back... it is crazy out here.

All kids have to be masked in school and they are pressuring all parents of children 5 and up to get their child vaccinated. Children 16 years and up it is mandatory to have the vaccine or they can't attend in person learning. So wrong.

The problem I've always had with this number is that none of it is static. If you look at historicals, you will find that they change. If you say that a .50 followed by a .48 followed by a .46 indicates a downward turn, I would agree. Now look at the same numbers two weeks later and you can't find that exact trend because the numbers have changed for some reason. If they change past data to be more accurate, then don't believe what is posted today,,, it's probably not complete of factual either.
To be of any logical benefit to me, the numbers must be factually accurate and most of all STATIC, which is why I don't pay attention to these numbers or the media.

I think sometimes you need to know how many had the stick up the nose, and how many were found sick.

I agree... the number shift later is concerning. It is odd how the numbers can change if it is based on how many were tested, how many were sick.
