Covid is right here, and it's getting bad fast.

So I guess we are about 2 weeks from hospitalizations dropping. That will be really good news.
Yeah, I've been advising people to lay low about two more weeks so we can make sure this is real. We need to get back in church, but COVID was running rampant through there for awhile, and I want to make sure it's clean before we go back. As I have said; our concern is carrying it into my in-laws house. It could kill them.

Number one in the country! And I'm still confused....
It's a lot like Yahtzee... you roll the dice and they all come up sixes, YAHTZEE!!! Take it and run because sooner rather than later you're going to roll the dice again and you may get squat. It's all in who eventually wins the game... if you don't get Covid or you do get it and don't die... YAHTZEE!!! :dancing: :dancing: :dancing: :dancing: :dancing: (see what I did there)

My dad is scheduled for his first round injection tomorrow at 7:20am. Even though I have my reservations it’s his decision. I just asked him to call me when he gets back home and told him not to rush it, don’t drive until he’s comfortable. I’m sure he’ll be fine.

I had a doctor's appointment this morning. My doctor said early reports coming out on the Johnson & Johnson vaccine are not good, as they show it's not near as effective as Moderna and Phizer's. She also said that when you get either vaccine to expect some muscle pain and other mild symptoms like nausea for 24 hours.

They will hold him for 15 minutes to make sure he doesn't have an allergic reaction.

I dont trust J&J with anything. Look at their denials on cancer from their talcum based products where there is tons of evidence to prove it (my mother in law being a prime example). No way I would ever trust a vaccine from J&J.

There was another manufacturer, I don't think it was J&J, who recently stopped their trials because their shot wasn't nearly as effective as the two mRNA vaccines. They said they will work on treatments instead, which we will still need.

The South Africa strain didn't mutate outside the strings capability to describe it, according to Moderna, but it might be somewhat more resistant. I think they were talking perhaps efficacy in the high eighty percent range though, which is still quite good. But this shows that the virus does mutate over a broad range and we just might need either a third shot or perhaps later, even annual shots like the flu. This is all stuff we will learn over time. The possibility also remains to reengineer the mRNA string to broaden it's capabilities.

My sister is a teacher in Kansas... semi rural district just outside of Topeka.

The school district has been offering vaccine appointements to teachers for about a week now,
they are seeking an 85% compliance rate. They have only seen 15% of teachers sign up for the vaccinations...

Now they are offering them a FREE large pizza as incentive...:rolleyes::rolleyes:

I'm all for vaccines, and I'm all for the personal freedom to make that choice.

But if you want more compliance among otherwise healthy essential public blue collar workers,
the incentives need to be raised. A couple grand would see a nice uptick in numbers... JMHO.

I honestly believe that by summer the government will pay you to have the shot.

It's funny... the incentives that spur our curious behavior.

I faithfully got my FREE flu shot for years... after thousands in premiums.

(I had a small child at home, and the H1N1 carried serious risk for small children.)

And then they wanted to charge me $45 with no insurance...
Right when the Kiddo's risk profile dramatically declined...

Guess who hasn't had the flu shout for the past couple of years ???

;)

I get the senior shot. Walgreens charged my insurance something like $125 for it. Without insurance I think it was $75.
