Zimmerman trial has now begun

West is fired up. :laugh

West is close to being held in contempt if he keeps arguing with the judge.

The list of lesser charges is where the state has the option to throw in every possible lesser charge that it can get through, which is where the 3rd degree murder charge came from.

I get why it was an option but to go at it from the child abuse angle is what really set West off ... and for them to have all of the case law that they did seemed to show that it was an angle they had planned for a while

And now we wait.... It's 2:30 - what are the chances the jury will be back in time for dinner? :whistle

How cool would it be if they came back this afternoon with a not guilty verdict? Thumb in the eye of the prosecution.

That's what I'm praying for. I'd love for them to say, "Hey...let's take a quick vote to see where we are, then we can discuss." Everyone votes "Not Guilty" and the foreperson says, "Call the judge. We're done!" ;)

The judge gave them enough in the jury instructions to easily have them tied up for the afternoon. At this point, they are probably still bringing in the exhibits from the courtroom and taking a break before the jury gets started. And, they are going to want to talk about the case - they have had to keep it to themselves during the entire trial so they will want to talk about it!!

I understand what you mean about them wanting to talk about it but I can't imagine not starting with a vote. Particularly since so many of them are anxious to get the heck out of there. They have the rest of their lives to talk about it. Why waste any more time than necessary being stuck there if they could be done and out of there?

Because they have to know WHAT they are voting for - they need to read the verdict form and understand it before they vote. The judge read the form to them, but the jury had not yet seen it until now.

I understand that but you said discussing the case ... reading the instructions is not discussing the case as I understood you to mean it.

I didn't want to put it this way, but I will...

These six WOMEN have not been able to discuss the case until now with anyone. They are going to want to talk about it. :whistle (Meaning the form, the case, the instructions, the evidence, the attorneys, Zimmerman, etc.).

I keep forgetting that I'm not normal and don't think like that. :)) You're probably right, though.

But then again, those same women have spouses and kids (some of them) that they didn't want to be away from to begin with and are probably more than ready to get back to.

All you need is one chatty chick and you're not going anywhere...

Make me foreman and that chatty chick can burn up her hubby's ear on the ride home from court. :))

I'm with you. Let's vote, and then I can talk to anybody I want to about it later! :))

I know people have the right to demonstrate and all but I just don't believe their should be such vocal demonstrations permitted so close to any courts during jury deliberations ... this case or any others. It is just too risky, too much chance of them impacting the verdict and that's just wrong.

The jury has asked the judge for a list of the evidence exhibits by number and description.

That explains what they are doing back in the courtroom. I just put my headphones back on and see that the attorneys were working on stuff in front of the judge.
