Zimmerman trial has now begun

I'm really torn on this case and it should be an interesting one to follow. I can't help but sympathize for the family who lost their son at such a young age but I can also see how homeowners are sick and tired of vandals and vagrants to the extent that they form neighborhood watch programs. I guess the question is whether or not lethal action was necessary and/or appropriate. To me it's not a racial issue but a question of how far one can go to protect their home, neighborhood, and financial investment within a gated community. My personally opinion is that it doesn't look good for Zimmerman, especially with an all female jury. The best he can hope for is a no decision or hung jury.

Re: Zimmerman trial has now began

I'm watching (listening) to it live. From what I've read, it's easy to be swayed to one side or the other. I'm hoping by watching some of the actual trial coverage, I'll be able to make a better decision about what really happened.

Keep us posted.

Keep in mind that the authorities felt that they had insufficient evidence to charge him,
that is until all of the resulting negative public pressure and media race baiting started... :whistle

This. ^^

And that bothers me that others got involved. To me, at least, it seems as if there has to be a certain outcome to this case.

And that speaks volumes!

The all female jury doesn't necessarily mean anything. I'm female and from what I know of the case Zimmerman would walk.

Zimmerman will be acquitted of all charges.

And there will be rioting.

Hey, anyone else look at any of the evidence photos? Anyone notice whose pants had dirt and such on the knees?

And though it is just a stupid little thing it is another prime example of how the media has so thoroughly controlled so many of the details the public has been fed so far in this case. What flavor Arizona ice tea was Trayvon carrying that night? A stupid detail that should not matter yet the media changed it.

Zimmerman should walk. He was being beaten by a thug who was probably up to no good. Whether he was or not, he was was assaulting Zimmerman and he took appropriate actions to defend himself. Not guilty.

Naw, there will not be any rioting. Other then a few of the race baiters and regular trouble makers, people really do not care about this any more and ready for it to be over. Especially when the truth comes out about little ole Mr Innocent....gang banger thug.

The racial component should not be the issue, but it is. It's the driving issue in this case. If the same incident inculded two blacks or two whites or the situation reversed, none of us would have ever heard about it. It would have remained local and, with the information the police say they have, no one would have been arrested.

That being said, it would have been wise for Zimmerman to call the police and WAIT in this case instead of confronting the thug on his own. Now if he was actively assaulting another person or seen crawling through a window...then yes. If the situation is not HOT....WAIT FOR BACK-UP!

But does not waiting for back-up make what he did a crime? No

That's the way I'm leaning, too. I'm trying to keep an open mind, but I keep hearing things that make me lean more and more toward an acquittal.

We've all heard the 911 tape where the RO told him not to follow Trayvon. For a long time, we all assumed GZ had followed him and then the confrontation occurred. From all that I've read lately, GZ went back to wait by his truck after he was told not to follow Trayvon. The scenario I heard was that Trayvon went around a building (GZ lost sight of him), and Trayvon came up behind GZ to confront him.

I've read the same thing and I think this will come out in trial.

T Von did confront the Z man. GZ went back to his truck and the thug stalked him at that point. That was conveniently left out of most race baiting news reports.

That may very well be the case. I just hope the real truth comes out instead of this being made into a side-show at a circus....which is what it alread is. Isn't it amazing how the very same people who act so worried about "innocent" people going to jail seem to let that fall to the way-side when there is a racial point to make?

Here's the conversation T Von had before he leff his house:

T Von : Hey Pop, I'm goin 2 da sto...

Big T Von : Cool Tra V. Picks me up a (bleep) (bleep) 40.....

T Von : Caint pops......gots sumpin to else ta do

Big T Von : keep it real (bleep).

Travon should have taken this trail back from the store.

Instead, he does this IN THE RAIN.

Any reason for this? Seems to me he was up to something wrong and his "luck" caught up with him.

BS, I'm still laughing, that's was a good post. I don't think you would have been selected to the jury pool though.

Not only that, I'm pretty sure Food Network will drop him by the end of the day.
