What goes around...

Most all they talked about was unity during the convention. If there a war between sides, the Cruz side has as many soldiers and are just as much at fault. I read Facebook like most others and have seen plenty of pro-Cruz posts about what an idiot and embarrassment Trump is....or they think he is. There's plenty of mud slinging to go around.
I think I mentioned above that Trump is finally trying to mend fences. But a lot of his loyals haven't gotten that message.

I pretty much stopped any real attacks on Trump when it was clear that he would be the nominee. I address some of the issues in discussions, but I haven't really gone off on the guy and I've been clear that I will almost certainly vote for him.

Yes, there are a handful of Cruz supporters still slamming Trump. But a tiny number compared to the attacks on Cruz. But here's the thing that really matters; Cruz is out, he's not the one who needs people's votes. Trump needs virtually all the Republican leaning votes to get elected. Plus he needs the swing vote and a slice of the moderate Democrats to come over for him. That's not just my opinion, that's the only way a Republican wins the White House anymore. The Democrats have succeeded in rubber stamping enough of the electorate that it's now very difficult for a Republican to be elected president.

That's why I'm sounding the alarm here. If the in-fighting doesn't stop, there will be a broomstick parked in the White House driveway come January.

So much for that. From what I'm reading on twitter he's doing a press conference or interview and is bringing up all the Cruz crap (father, wife, etc.) stuff again. The man just can't help himself.

Why would he do this? He made the speech of his life last night and should be talking about that instead of all this Cruz crap. I seriously question if he really wants to win.

sigh...

I'm just left scratching my head wondering what's taking so long for others to come around. The choices are clear. Everyone is free to make a statement by voting their conscious to the 3rd party candidate. It will spell disaster for our country for the next four years at a minimum and for generations more than likely but at least they'll feel good about themselves.

I know what he's up to...same strategy he used during the primaries. He's manufacturing a common enemy to rally his supporters against. But I think it will backfire on him now. He needs to be reaching out to everyone.

I get that but shouldn't that common enemy be Hillary, not fellow republicans and their supporters? I seriously wonder if he really wants to win or if this is all one big game to him.

It was long ago when some predicted Trump didn't really want the nomination, that he was only doing it to help Hillary. Instead of finding fault in everything he says and does it would do the party well for everyone to accept that he is this cycle's nominee. I didn't want Romney but I supported him.

I accept that he's the republican nominee but that doesn't mean I have to ignore when he does stupid stuff like this. What possible benefit could there be for continuing to go after Cruz and Kasich at this point? He needs to be trying to get their supporters, not alienating them.

I think this attack on Cruz is another example on how vindictive Trump can be to those who won't tow the line. He says Cruz's speech was no big deal to him because it didn't come right out and endorse him. Why Trump is being vindictive is because afterward, Cruz reminded the media how Trump attacked his wife and father. In response, Trump wants to come out with guns blazing rather than just letting it go like he should have. He had already gotten what he wanted - the nomination. This is an issue I have with Trump. Will he be like this with the leaders of other countries? If so, we will have a rocky ride internationally.
