What goes around...

If anyone doubts the GOP is divided and in trouble...just point them to this thread...better get used to saying President Hillary Clinton.

My real point is...how is this continued division helping Trump, or helping to keep Hillary out?

It isn't. To win, Trump needs virtually all Republican voters, most independents, and a slice of the moderate Democrats. No Republican wins with out that.

This ongoing battle is dividing the Republican voters.

The best thing any of us could have done after Cruz's speech was take the high road and just let it go.

Any of you ever consider that the media is driving this? That they want us divided? I'm sure Hillary is laughing her ample butt off right now.

I'm not divided, I just think Cruz made a major political mistake. He's rolling the dice for 2020 not realizing that some of us will remember. I'm on the Trump train and trying to drag as many as I can with me, it's those at the depot steps who are hurting the cause. I'll worry about 2020 in 2019.

My question is why did Cruz not take that high road ? ? ?

:dunno:

I think he did. He easily could have gotten on that stage and bashed Trump for 20 minutes but he didn't. He simply said to 'vote your conscience'. Why does everyone think 'voting your conscience' means voting against Trump? Shouldn't that alone say something about the guy?

My dad always told me to vote my conscience every time. He's going to support Trump. I won't. I don't believe he's real. I don't mean the lying usual politican stuff, I mean that I believe he's a liberal democrat, and has everyone fooled, and that the media is complicit in this. I've seen and read too many of his positions over the years to believe he magically switched sides just now. Bullshit.

Don't get upset by that...McCain was a liberal democrat too, the (R) was just for show and to fool people who don't pay attention.

I suspect he probably thinks he's being true to his beliefs.

How many of you thought Bernie sold out when he endorsed Hillary after running against the very system she's a part of?

What I posted on Facebook just now, where I also have a discussion going on.

Back during the primary, I couldn't help but wonder why there was so much hate toward Cruz from the Trump supporters. Yes, he was the competition, but he wasn't the only competition. Carson, Carly, and Rubio were right on Trump's tail at one point or another. But not so much hate toward them.

Why?

I saw horrible untruths posted about Cruz. Not only allegations that he did this and did that, but also all sorts of conspiracy theories of how he was in cahoots with the RNC and how he was going to be brokered into the nomination.

None of the vicious rumors were true, and Trump has secured the nomination. The GOP doesn't like Cruz either, ya know.

Now here we go again. I'm seeing lots of things said about Cruz in this thread, and most aren't true. He has not said most of the things that some of you are assuming.

I'm not trying to defend Cruz, I'm just wondering why so many are still battling Cruz when he's not the enemy? Why are you fighting Cruz, and he's not in the running anymore?

Folks-Barring some kind of miracle from Johnson, Trump is only running against one person. Cruz is NOT Trump's enemy, Hillary is!! Why do I see more hate toward Cruz than I do Hillary?

Why did so many of you believe such horrible things about Cruz then? Why do you now? Have you ever considered that someone wants you to? The longer we battle among ourselves, ourselves, the the less we fight Hillary.

You guys know who most of the media supports...right? You know that there are thousands of fake news sites out there posting untrue propaganda...right?

Are they intentionally dividing us so Hillary will win?

I'm going to suggest again that we let this with Cruz go, and move on to being concerned with the real enemy.

And to the Trump haters - Here's the ting...he's the nominee. Nothing we can do to change that. No, he's not what I wanted either, but he's what we got. I have my issues with him, but I think he's vastly preferable to Hillary. At least Trump has brains, loads of business experience, he knows how to lead, and he's not a Socialist. He has to be a much better choice than Hillary.

So I ask you this...what do we gain by continuing to attack Trump? Who are you helping except Hillary?

Time to come together, people. Or there will be a br

Question: If Trump haters are helping Hillary by criticizing Trump, does that mean we should fully support everything Trump says and does over the next 4 months? If we didn't, wouldn't that be helping Hillary in some way? If we do but really disagree with something he says or does, wouldn't that be dishonest to ourselves.

I never said any such thing.

But he is the nominee, and realistically, the only one who has a chance at beating Hillary.

You said "So I ask you this...what do we gain by continuing to attack Trump? Who are you helping except Hillary?".

So I'm just asking, if we criticize or attack anything Trump does over the next 4 months, wouldn't that be helping Hillary? Your comment seems to indicate that.

Civil criticism was not what I was referring to. You know that I have issues with him too. It's the viscous attacks on him that help Hillary. Read the thread on my Facebook page and see posts from Hal for an example.

I actually just liked some of his posts. :D

Look, I get it. I'm not an idiot. I know that it'll come down to either Hillary or Trump as the next President. Everyone is entitled to vote however they please. I intend to do just that. I've voted Republican for President my entire adult life. That will change this year. I simply can not vote for someone to become the most powerful person in the world that I do not respect. If my vote, or any anti-Trump vote I influence (probably zero), causes him to lose then don't blame me or any other NeverTrumper...blame the flawed candidate with no core values and a lifelong history of supporting liberal causes.

Forget all this nonsense and lets talk about a bigger issue....you are friends with GD on Facebook and not me?

Trump will get the same chance Obama got with me. If he wins, I'll hold back on hating the living hell out of him till I see just what he's about. Obama could've won me over...somehow. Not likely, but it was possible. Trump has four months, and a possible victory...and a term to win me over. If I had to vote right now...I'd either go for Johnson, write in Cruz, or just stay home.

Hillary can't win me over, though. I know her too well, and I know what she's about. She was (not) my senator in New York. She was utterly worthless then, utterly worthless as Secretary of State, and she will be for the rest of her miserable existence.

Had Cruz made nice, I would've lost some respect for him. I did respect Bernie for sticking with his beliefs all through his career...right till he sold out. Anyway, Cruz could've been awesome on the Supreme Court, or in Trump's administration somewhere. I'm not sure, if I were in that position, what I'd have done. I don't think Cruz will want Trumps endorsement next time around, though.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to be utterly disgusted by the next four to eight years. I'm fed up with settling for the lesser of two evils. I'm sick and tired of people like Mitch McConnel and John Boner getting to keep their jobs, and people thinking that they can do whatever liberal bullshit they want just because they keep an R by their name. I hate almost all of them nearly as much as I hate almost all of the democrats. It's long past time to remove all of them from office. Forcefully if they won't go on their own.

I thought my rant was over. It's like there's all these conniving backstabbing scumbags in a big room, and they're all rubbing their hands together, drooling at whatever shady deal they can make to enrich themselves. They're all old, but I don't want this to be a generational issue. There's a lot of knowledge and experience that older people have....but can we trade them out? What happened to going to work and SERVING THE PEOPLE OF THE UNITED STATES? How does anyone tolerate the corruption that we see every day in so many levels of government? That other thread talking about Comey and all the things he did for the Clintons...that man should be out of a job! Maybe in prison!

What so hard about actually voting on legislation? Who the hell votes Present? Who votes on things without READING it? All of these people are trash.

How many people can you think of that aren't shady? I'll even pick on my boy Ted because his wife works for Goldman Sachs and I really don't like that. But his record since we elected him has been excellent and principled. Ron Paul....who else? Anyone? Any party. Maybe Gary Johnson? I dunno maybe it's harder for governors to be shady.

How can you kick the scum out when there's no one to vote for? Last time I voted, I saw tons of uncontested spots on the ballot. Hell, maybe I should run as a Democrat just so I can get my name on there for some local thing. I wonder if I'd make enough money to survive? There's next to no coverage on these people, yet I'm supposed to vote for them?

I wanna be railroad commissioner. I don't know what that means or how to do it, but if the man is running uncontested...maybe he doesn't either?
