Trump team eyes Nov. 14 announcement

Trump is a proven winner. We, and the world, know what he brings to the table (both the good and the bad)...no gamble. DeSantis is a great state governor but is unknown on the national stage...big gamble. Trump has only one more full term remaining. DeSantis is young, he can wait his turn.

I have no problem with Trump governing, and since he would be a lame duck out of the gate, I suspect he would be ruthless in draining the swamp. I would predict massive changes at the FBI and Justice Department, and certain figures we all know are crooked would finally go down.

BUT...he would have to get elected to do any of that, and I'm just not sure he can. All the polls focus on Trump vs Biden, but I don't believe for a minute that Biden will run again. There's zero chance his own party will let him after what he's done to them.

I think DeSantis is far more electable than Trump. He's also a bit of a bull in a china shop, but knows when to shut up, unlike Trump.
Desantis is absolutely un-electable with Trump running as a third party, I don't care what you do. The democrats could run a road kill 'Possum that is bloated with maggots, and they would get 45% of the vote, Trump would get 20-25% and that leaves DeSantis with 30-35%. The only reason Trump won in 2016 is that so many people hated Hillary. Trump lost in 2020 because more republicans hated him more than they feared a Biden administration. As bad as Biden is, they still hate Trump more than they fear another democratic administration, even if it means socialism as the law of the land. This is an undeniable fact, as sad as it is.
There are two possible scenarios that will stop the democrats in 2024, first is the possibility of a Trump/DeSantis ticket where the trump haters can see light at the end of the tunnel and DeSantis lurking for a run in 2028. This would require the Trump haters to hold their nose and vote for Trump one time to head off eminent disaster. Second, is that the Trump haters see the evil Biden has done and get behind Trump from the start. Unfortunately, neither of these scenarios will happen because the Trump haters live in a fairy tale world.

Two more scenarios....Trump doesn't run or DeSantis beats Trump in the primaries. Neither are likely, but a man can dream, right?

If DeSantis wins the primary, Trump runs third party and screws up the GOP chance of beating anyone. Trump is running unless a court order blocks him in the case he is indicted,,, maybe that is best.

Or things could run in an orderly fashion with Trump having the support needed to win in 2024 then him handing the reigns over to DeSantis for another 8 year lock. That's the best scenario.

What's really scary is Trump probably believes he can win as an independent. Maybe his announcement is announcing his own political party and all those candidates he endorsed in this election switching to it.

I think the odds of Trump winning the nomination are good. It's winning the general election that worries me. If the Dems run someone remoetely likable, Trump will probably lose.

Because the libs will use the fact it's him running to juice up their followers to get them to the polls. Which will overflow into senate and house and state elections like it did last time.

'There in lies the rub'. The Trump haters got us what we have now, and there is little reason they will do otherwise, save the application of common sense. Surely a certain percentage of the haters now see the mess we're in and now that the democrats have to be removed, but is that percentage large enough to overcome democratic shenanigans at the polls. The plans for the Carter Center to oversee this election could be a preemptive move to insinuate the polling is on the up and up, therefore no one needs to bother watching them in 2024!

The biggest difference between Republicans and Democrats is that the repubs show up and vote their conscience, while the dems plot and scheme for years and years to attain a life long goal of socialism. With each election the dems consider it a win-win. If they win, great, and if they lose, they figure out why and make sure it doesn't happen again. If they need greater numbers, they are willing to cheat. All the while the repubs sit on what they consider the moral high ground while our country and our freedoms disappear because of it. Thank you very much!

He may officially announce tonight. The day before the election. Why? How does it benefit anyone at all for him to announce today? I could see where it hurts some Republicans tomorrow though.
It's because he's a narcissist. He thinks if he announces now, nobody from the GOP would dare run against him. This is actually the worst time for anyone to announce they are running for president.

Nah, 80M didn't vote for Biden.

He went all around it, but stopped just short.

He has apparently said it will happen a week from tomorrow.

Trump: I don't want to take the focus off the election tomorrow, but let's talk about my upcoming announcement. :coffeespit:

Crazy prediction: He and DeSantis already have an agreement that will shock everyone. Trump decides not to run and he fully endorses DeSantis for 2024.

No, I haven't been drinking. :D

I would be very surprised if Trump delayed his announcement. McEnany is correct. Trump should stay out of Georgia and DeSantis should come to the state to campaign for Walker.
