Trump team eyes Nov. 14 announcement

Everything I read suggests he plans to run.

Several politicians have correctly stated we need to turn down the "thermostat" in politics and come together as a people. I totally agree, but I don't expect it to happen anytime soon. Unfortunately, Trump running again will just give the Democrats more reason keep the attacks going.

This makes more sense because this year is way too early for anyone to announce their candidacy.
If he did, I don't think he would plan to win. He might want to gauge the amount of support he has in the house and know who he has to run a candidate against. Even if he did win it, he cannot make the leap to POTUS without a LOT of help from the dems. Mitch and the never Trumper's in the senate would never allow that to happen. The dems would gut it out with Harris until 2024 and dump her then.
There are a lot of interesting scenarios that could take place, and all of them are driven by the craving for power.

I don't see the speaker thing happening. He'll either run for POTUS or he'll be working in a support position.

Here is how another person rumored to be running for the Republican nomination in 2024 talks about DeSantis.

Mike Pence is a nice guy, but I don't think he would stand a chance of getting the nomination. I'll be surprised if he does seek the nomination.

If Trump loses in a primary, the democrats win the Whitehouse, because he'll run for POTUS as an independent ala Perot,,, and we know how that went. We have a real problem with Trump, and I'm thinking the best way out is to re-elect him and get it out of the way. Thereafter the undivided support of the GOP can go for DeSantis. A Trump/DeSantis ticket would make a lot of sense at this point.

A lot of people are speculating a Trump/Gabbard (have I mentioned she's hot?) ticket.

It seems feasible, given her actions and timing.

Trump/DeSantis will not work because I don't think Trump can play nice in the sand box with DeSantis.

Someone help me understand....how exactly would Trump winning in 2024 be better than DeSantis winning in 2024?

I'm guessing some would argue that Trump will do a better job of draining the swamp. To that I would ask...why didn't he do that during his first term and do you really think he can do it in a second term where most everyone will just try to wait it out until 2028? Speaking of which, why didn't Trump fire Fauci?

I'm also guessing some would argue that his policies are more conservative. If so, how? DeSantis seems pretty darn conservative both in his talk and actions. Was Trump calling for $2000 direct payments (a Democrat position) in Dec 2020 a conservative position? Wouldn't that have caused inflation? And Trump criticized Kemp for opening GA 'too soon'. Who was proven right on that one?

Trump is a fighter! True....but DeSantis isn't?

Trump lost to a man that can barely remember his own name or that he is POTUS. Yes, there were likely some voting issues, but it has still not been proven that there were enough issues to change the winner. People have to realize that a large section of the American people just plain don't like Trump and won't vote for him. His support has an upper ceiling that makes it questionable if he could win again especially if he's up against someone that can form a coherent sentence like Newsom.

So....why is Trump a better choice for 2024 than DeSantis?

I have no problem with Trump governing, and since he would be a lame duck out of the gate, I suspect he would be ruthless in draining the swamp. I would predict massive changes at the FBI and Justice Department, and certain figures we all know are crooked would finally go down.

BUT...he would have to get elected to do any of that, and I'm just not sure he can. All the polls focus on Trump vs Biden, but I don't believe for a minute that Biden will run again. There's zero chance his own party will let him after what he's done to them.

I think DeSantis is far more electable than Trump. He's also a bit of a bull in a china shop, but knows when to shut up, unlike Trump.
