Just so that we're clear that I'm not running away from a debate, I want it to be recognized that it's impossible to "win" a philosophical debate, especially one rooted in interpretation of a book written by man 2000+ years ago that claims to speak for a "God" that we can't prove exists. There's just no way we can discuss issues like these without being on the same philosophical plane. I do respect your faith, I just don't have that same faith.

I am not opposed to gay civil unions, utilizing a system like in Europe, where anyone wanting to be joined in a union is certified as joined by the state, and if they want to have a religious wedding, they do that afterward. That way, churches/religious leaders are completely out of the loop if they so desire.

Yes and yes. I believe that the human studies have not been going on long, but I am unsure of the process or progress.
