Paula Deen fired from Food Network

Hell, even when I was in HS we used it all the time. Both towards whites and blacks. I know this sounds idiotic and it even sounds idiotic to me but, for some reason there is a huge difference between the words "nigger" and "nigga". You put the "er" on there and you might get beat even you are friends with the guy. Again, its idiotic but true. Context is a big issue as well. If you say, "Hey, what's up my nigga" it seems to be OK. Now, if you take out the "my" and add "er" you may be stabbed. Words change and lose meaning with the passing of generations. How many of you on here would go out and tell your buddies, "Damn man, I'm feeling really gay today"? Hopefully not a lot of you. I'm fine with the word and use it daily. In saying that, I'm not sure what school your kids go to or who you are letting them hang out with but you may want to watch whom they are hanging out with if they are slinging words like that around. I've asked my son "What color was he?" and he he doesn't even feel comfortable saying "he was black". Y'all must be in the rough area s of Paulding.

Good Gracious...............I'm tired of chasing imaginary rabbits and defending things not said. Nobody said the n word wasn't offensive. I'm done here. My consistent thoughts on the one subject I was talking about are exhausted. I don't need to change my parameters to make my argument valid.

All I know is that the "N" word is not allowed in my house because my middle daughter was born with a rare disease where 2 white parents have a black/mixed baby. At least that's what my wife told me.

The real cool thing is that my wife's long lost black brother started hanging out here. Apparently this disease is hereditary. I don't know what I would do without Uncle Quantavious helping out around the house while I was at work.

He showed up at the hospital the day she was born. It was a miracle within a miracle. We're so lucky huh? He now has a room in our basement.

Interesting thing today ... HLN commentator talking about the Zimmerman trial said that Martin's use of "crazy cracker" and "the N word" in a private phone conversation with a friend and not spoken at anyone is no indication of his character or of how he views anyone and should not be taken as such. Now certainly that works the other way too ... right?

Anyone who dares to claim words such as "N Word", "F*g", Sl*t", "Fatty", "Ugly", "Cracker", "Honkey", "Midget", or God forbid "Democrat" has never crossed their lips please stand up so I'll know who to call a LIAR to their face. Even the best of "Christians" make mistakes and say words they don't mean or which are taken out of context. Each person has at least one word which cuts to the heart of their character weakness or self-conscious. I'm not a Deen fan but I'm sure she has done more good through her work than she's offended by her words.

And let me add this too...if any parent thinks their kid (teenager or older) hasn't used similar words, get your head out of the clouds.

And now Walmart announces they are breaking ties. News said that makes four. Who was the other one?

Rev. Jesse Jackson says he's agreed to help celebrity chef Paula Deen try to make amends for her past use of a racial slur, saying she shouldn't become a "sacrificial lamb" over the issue of racial intolerance. http://on.11alive.com/14wi9px

Jackson said yesterday that Deen called him this week, and they discussed how she might recover.

Any thoughts?
