OK, guys, someone in here I KNOW can answer this question:

Emerson, too.

I've heard that, too. Here's my take on this, if you're speeding and get caught you get a ticket. I try not to speed but have been guilty myself, mostly because I wasn't paying attention. I've been lucky, only got caught once in my life (knock wood), but I could get caught today or tomorrow or the next day. Who's fault would it be??

BTW, I've not seen sungoddess even once say she shouldn't have received the ticket, she just wanted to know how much it was going to cost her. ;) I love that woman. :love
Look, NO ONE said some do not deserve the ticket. SOME do. People that are getting tickets for 6 miles over the speed limit, ridiculous.
I'd have to question that 6 over ... unless it was written by GSP. (Still a weak ticket but at least I'd believe it was written.)

I have no idea which department wrote the tickets. One I know my gf fought and won. :D

I've been through there at various times. Sometimes I see policemen, sometimes I don't. :dunno So far, I haven't been ticketed. :pray (thank you Lord)

But GD's statement brings me to another question. If the GSP writes the ticket, where does the revenue go?? Is it split between the county and GSP?? What about tickets written for accidents?? Since the GSP writes all of those, how does that work?
It goes to whatever jurisdiction they're in.

So the GSP isn't writing tickets to generate income for themselves. :goodjob I'd say that's pretty fair, how can it be a speed trap if it's not county or city writing the tickets??

I'm giving y'all fair warning now. If you go through Aragon, you better do the speed limit. Aragon's finest likes to keep their little town safe, I'm sort of on their side with this. ;D

GSP can technically write for 1 over ... most agencies can't/don't write until 10 over on radar.

I tell our guys NOT to write anything under 10 mph.

Make a respectful request to the judge for the mph to be lowered. He/She can do it.

You know, for some reason I never see anyone going over 54 on that road. Could be the car I'm driving I suspect. :Ninja
:ditto

:thumbsup I didn't know that!

GSP got me on Carruth right after I got my Tundra. I honestly didn't realize I was speeding; I had this new silky smooth truck with 400 horsepower and I was just cruising along at what felt comfortable. Like I said, that road makes you wanna go too fast.

And that may well be part of why they enforce it so heavily ... to force people to slow down. I've seen people drive at ludicrous speed on that road and then almost run people off the road when it narrows.

Funny story. A couple of years ago, I had dropped the oldest off at Bible Study. :pray

I had to use the bathroom...BADLY! So, I'm sure that I may have been going a little faster than the posted 40 mph on Dallas Nebo. I was pulled over for going 15 over the limit. (I will tell you, if I'd have been alone, I would have made a stink. No way my 10 year old minivan was doing 15 over uphill. It just didn't have it in it!)

My young one was with me, so I was displaying respect and remorse. I accepted my ticket, and made it home before I peed my pants.

I decided to pay the ticket rather than go to court. Again, my young one who was about 9 at the time, was with me. When the lady told me the amount ($178!!!) my son said, "Well, there goes our trip to Hawaii!" :laugh All the ladies in the office were rolling. And for the record, we had no plans to travel to Hawaii. I have no idea where he came up with that one!

That used to happen to me all the time when I traveled that road daily.

:)) We are all speaking of the same road, right? I see cops daily, some of you don't, I have never seen ludicrous speed that would run me off the road, some do. Hilarious!

I drive that road daily too and it is "heavily" enforced by the PCSO. I've seen the GSP set up maybe twice, but PC loves to hold fundraisers on Carruth. Now, I will openly admit that I speed. I don't make excuses when I'm pulled over because generally, when I see a cop coming, I know why.

Another popular fundraising spot is in Cobb, there are a few LEO that like to sit on side of 120 right at the county line. They are there a few times a week.

P.S. I'm a little offended - I'm willing to bet that I've spent more on Bill Carruth Pkwy than Bill Carruth. When are they going to change the name to Lisa Lane? :whistle

There is a simple cure to all this "funds exchange".......SLOW DOWN!

True, but why are they on this particular road, so consistently? :dunno

Because people continue to speed, and drive aggressively at the bottleneck.

:thumbsup

I'm guessing there have been a few accidents over that way, too.

Oh, I do, right before I get to the speed trap.... ;D

As for the bottleneck, I always allow cars to merge in, especially the ones that come flying up beside you like it will be the end of the world if they don't get in front of you.

I actually don't see a lot of accidents down that part of Bill Carruth. Most of the accidents happen at the Hiram Sudie intersection.

I see them speed up there to get in, but I see just as many slow down to let them in. :dunno I also do not see accidents right there. As LisaC said it is usually down by Hiram Sudie.
I do not see more speeding or aggressive driving there verses other areas in the county that I personally have thought, where is that officer when you need them?
(I am not saying no one speeds or no one drives aggressively, just does not seem more so there. It does seem to be an easier and safer (for both the officer and the driver) place to ticket than some of the other roads.)
