Preliminary Book Review... :sermon

Hubby bought the book and I agreed to give it a fair shot... so here goes :

The first word I would use is simplistic... but the more I read... the more I feel a subtle undercurrent of brilliant common sense.
There are many specific policy proposals with corresponding bills, and the word "huge" has already appeared half a dozen times
by page 70... :)) but I do feel that many folks have underestimated this man's intelligence precisely because of his bombastic and
somewhat off putting personality. I am not ready to vote for an entertainer, but his book does outline valid and serious policy.

So far, I'm kind of impressed... :dunno

Which one? I have read two of his books and though it has been a long time, I do remember thinking the man is smart.

I still don't like him.

I'll vote for him if it's between him and one of the Dems in the pack. That's about as good as it gets.

Ooh, thank you, HB! A fair assessment is all anyone can ask. Honestly, I have been very impressed, and I can assure you - I am NOT easily impressed.

Speaking of being thin-skinned....Trump says he won't go on Fox News but apparently he still watches. This was on tonight:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cAkGD-otks4

And this was Trump's response on twitter:

o8w3g9.png

The guy that won't apologize for anything he says is asking for an apology for something someone else says. And he wants the government (FCC) to punish him. So not only is Trump thin-skinned and hypocritical, he's also stupid to think the FCC will issue a fine for that being said on a cable broadcast.

Have I ever mentioned that I don't link Trump?

 Ohhhhhhhhhh M geeeeeeeeeeeeee That guy should be fined. That was crude and should have been left in the locker room.

Whether you LINK :snick_bunny Trump or not, that was terrible and not for a news program. (I would think that if anyone said it about anyone else.)

Yeah, it was crude but that doesn't take away from my points about Trump. Also, I don't believe the FCC fines for things said on cable.

He is brash, but that is what people like about him. That is him. This guy was just going for shock value with his statement. Fox is considered cable? I thought they were like ABC, NBC, CBS, etc, that you can get whether you pay for cable or not. :dunno

Agreed about Trump being brash and about Lowry going for shock value. However, Trump's response is hypocritical and stupid. He insults people all the time but can't take it when someone says something bad about him.

This was on Fox News which is only available on cable.

:thumbsup I have no clue what is on cable and what isn't.

I do agree Trump's response is a bit stupid. He is smart enough he could have thought of a more "Trump" come back. :))

Rich Lowry is completely in the tank for the GOPe, as is the rest of National Review. Poorly done. Sure DT's response could have been different, but he has a long-standing policy of not taking attacks on him lying down. Fox is behaving like MSNBC and OF COURSE it's all about ratings, although Murdock hates Trump.

I just found out that DT has the backing of Sen. Tim Scott of SC. He's the tea party black dude who isn't Lindsey Graham. Awesome guy.

I agree about Lowry and the GOPe and about Trump's long-standing policy of not taking attacks on him lying down. However, it was how he attacked back that bothers me (well, his attacks in general bother me but that's not my point at the moment). Trump, who is known for making insulting and rude comments about anyone, responded by saying Lowry should be banned from TV and fined by the government. So much for free speech. I guess Trump only likes it when he's the one doing it. What would Trump do if this happened when he were President? Would he order the FCC, IRS, FBI, or any other government agency to investigate Lowry?
