This is the latest they're yammering about...that he didn't dispute what the guy said about Obama being a foreign Muslim. How was he supposed to handle it? I'd say the same if it were Jeb or Carly. Goob of a story.

Agreed. I heard the talking heads talking about it last night and thought it was a non-issue.

The MSM have been reporting this as well. They seem to be going way out of their way in hopes of discrediting him, which may just make him more appealing to conservative and independent voters. I was listening to Hannity yesterday for a short time on the radio. He had a guest (never caught his name) who gave me the impression he's on Trump's campaign staff. This guy said because Trump has been leading in the last 50 polls taken that the majority favor him for president. This guy's math is a little fuzzy as Trump is polling around 30%, which means 70% favor someone other than Trump.

Christie is ripping Trump for not "mishandling" the Muslim remark.

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie said Friday that he would not have allowed someone at his town hall to suggest that Muslims are a problem and that President Barack Obama is a Muslim and not an American, as one man did at Donald Trump's town hall on Thursday night in New Hampshire.
Trump did not correct the man, who also raised the concern about Islamic "training camps" growing in the United States, responding only, "A lot of people are saying that and a lot of people are saying that bad things are happening out there. We’re going to be looking at that and a lot of different things."
"Listen, Donald Trump's got to decide, as we've seen, I've said this all along. He's got to decide how serious a candidate he wants to be and how he handles different problems like this are going to determine that in the eyes of the American people," Christie told NBC's Matt Lauer on "Today."
Christie said he would not "lecture" Trump about what he should do, but made it clear what he would have done in that situation.

Ehh, I have plenty of reasons to not like Trump. It probably wasn't his job to defend Obama.

VERY strong on 2nd amendment. Also lifetime member of the NRA.

It galls me to defend Trump. But, sometimes you just can't reason with people. Telling the man he was wrong about Obama being a Muslim would have made a good soundbite for Conservatives who don't like Trump. That setting was also not conducive to leading the man through his reasoning, logic, and evidence (assuming he had any).

Sometimes you're better off keeping your mouth shut, even though you know the other person is wrong.

But Trump was a "birther" in the recent past, so maybe he still believes this or wishes it was true.

One of the things I look for when deciding about a candidate is their political advisors. Since 2012, my pick had remained Rick Perry. However, I was somewhat surprised when he attacked DT right out of the gate. But I was still supporting him. THEN I found out that he had hired Steve Schmidt and Nicole (can't remember how she spells it) Wallace, as well as Hayley Barbour and his brothers. Schmidt and Wallace worked for McCain in 2008 and were active in the sabatoogery of Sarah Palin (Katie Couric interview, campaign buying her clothes, etc.). The Barbours were VERY involved in the 2014 debacle of a reelection campaign of Sen. Thad Cochran of Mississippi. Worse than dirty tricks against the popular Tea Party guy in that race; you can read about it here: http://onenewsnow.com/perspectives/bryan-fischer/2014/07/01/the-smoking-gun-massive-voter-fraud-in-cochran-mcdaniel-primary and here: http://www.cnn.com/2014/07/03/politics/mcdaniel-cochran-mississippi-challenge/ All are GOPe hacks of the lowest order. So, that killed Perry for me.

Conversely, what put me more firmly in DT's camp was when I found out that the most excellent Sen. Jeff Sessions is advising him on border/immigration, and that the most excellent John Bolton is advising him on foreign affairs.

(Cannot get of stupid icon for some reason.)

Seems there is a poll for any angle you want because there are also polls showing Carson is now even with Trump.

Trump will not be the candidate (thank god!) ... don't know who it will be but it will not be him.

I don't know about that. He seems to continue picking up steam.

Agreed on the polls. What is your thinking on that latter part? I know why I think it could be true, but I'm I'm terested in your thoughts.

Like him or hate him, he's already acting like more of a President than what we have now. He appeals to the masses.

Correction - to my knowledge, Ms. Wallace did not work for Perry...not sure she's working on any campaign. I heard she was on the View and sometimes on FNC.

He's losing ground in the key states that are watched ... in fact, Carly beat him in NH in a post-debate poll. The GOP machine knows that he can't win so they will do whatever it takes to keep from handing him the nomination. I don't like the idea of him having any national government position in this country but I do have to wonder if they haven't been talking to him about Veep.

Last poll showed him beating Jeb AND Rubio in Florida. The reason I think he could not get it is in my response to Waski is in the favorite presidential candidate thread (split conservative vote).

The intelligent republicans, anyone looking at the entire picture, know how bad he would be for us. He will slip, no as hard and fast as Hill is going to, but he will slip. I don't know who the candidate will be but I'm telling you ... it will not be Donald Trump.

And if hell actually does freeze over and he gets the nod you guys can all point back to this and say, "Ha ha, told you so!" :))

I will repeat that I am under no illusion as to who and what he is. As a commenter on a conservative site said the other day, DT is the cudgel we are using to attempt to destroy the GOP establishment (GOPe).
