Here's a question.
The left wing bashes Trump and the right wing bashes Trump.
Could that possibly be because neither side can control and use him to further their own personal goals?

Could be. Or it could be because he would be a danger to this country as president.

He would be a danger to the "establishment" and THAT is why he's being attacked by all sides. :5_1_120:

I agree with that but I also don't think he would be a very good president at all.

But you also think the McRib is fine eating.

Who doesn't????????????

Aaaand my point is made.

Like I said in that other thread, not that there is anything wrong with that.

I'm sure the GOP takes issue with him because he's not being one of the panty waist Republicans of modern day. In that respect, I an on Trump's side. Let him run without throwing roadblocks at him, and if the people want him to be the nominee, then so be it.

I very much want a political outsider...someone who is not part of either corrupt party. So I have no issue with Trump on that account.

My issue with Trump is twofold.

1-He needs to start acting like an adult who has some class and tact. There's no need for him to be such a butt hole.
2-I still don't trust him. I just don't believe all that he says.

But again....if he gets the nomination, I'll vote for him in the general election.

That's really not the point. Many wrongs don't make a right.

Rush was reading the LAW on the radio just now that became the law of the land in 1952, giving the president, by proclamation alone, the authority to restrict the immigration of ANY group or sub-group of people that he considers in any way a threat to our nation.

And Jimmy Carter was FAR more strict against Iranian immigrants when he used that law during the Iranian hostage crisis in 1979. Not only did he not permit Iranians into the country, he gave all Iranian college students in this country 30 days to go to the immigration office to register. Thousands were found to have violated their Visas.

It's really amazing that ALL the democrats and 99% of establishment republicans either are ignorant to this or have chosen to act ignorant about it. In reality, they believe it is WE who are the ignorant ones. Then Carly Fiorina makes a statement that Clinton will wipe the floor with Trump if he is the nominee. Rush had a very good question for her. He asked Carly if Clinton can wipe the floor with Trump, then why don't she do the same in the primaries?

To me, so much of this hate toward trump is personal and based on the fact that the establishment can't use him as a puppet. That's not a good enough reason for me.

First, aligning Trump with Carter is not a good comparison for Trump.

Second, my dislike for Trump has nothing to do with me liking the GOPe. In fact, I despise most of them and would very much prefer an outsider to win the nomination. My dislike for Trump is basically what GD posted earlier....he's an ass that says stupid stuff and I don't trust him to be a true conservative if elected. I could certainly be wrong (won't be the first time...I predicted Romney would beat Obama) and I'll vote for him over the democrat nominee if he wins the republican nomination.

I wasn't aligning Trump with Carter's policies. Just because Carter used Air Force One, I won't fault Trump for using it. Trump is stating he would make use of the same law Carter utilized in a similar circumstance....A law not written by Carter in 1952. The point is the act is legal and not against our constitution as the establishment and democrats are hoping us people in fly over country will believe.

Zero.

I'm not so naive that I think any of them are angels or 100% truthful. But there are some that I feel are more trustworthy and certainly more "real" than Trump.

I would trust Dr. Carson over Trump. He's a humble man, I'm pretty sure he doesn't need the money, he's already been highly successful in life given his career and the racial barriers he overcame. And I think he's a very good and moral man. I'm not referring so much to his faith as to his general decency as a person. I don't think he wants the job of POTUS for any reason other than because he feels a duty to his country.

I would trust Cruz over Trump. I've had some arguments with a couple of people as to whether he's establishment or not, and that seems to be a matter of what your definition of establishment is. But he has bucked the rank and file GOP from day one, and he seems to be very true to his beliefs and convictions.

Trump, on the other hand, is acting like this is just another reality show for him. I'll say again...this is a highly intelligent man. If he really, really wanted to win the election and lead this country to better times; he has sense enough to show some class and act presidential. He acts almost like this is a big joke to him...like he's doing it for grins and giggles.

Now that, we can agree on.
But let's be 100% clear, no one runs for pres unless they are doing it for themselves.
I think Trump is just as serious as any other candidate, however he is who he is, so he does what he does.
In many many ways, I consider him the most honest of all the candidates.

I think he wants to be President to show that he can, and he can do it better than someone else. Maybe a bit narcissistic, but I am okay with that. At least no one is pulling his strings. I do not think he has any other agenda besides showing he can get elected. :dunno He can still be a bit of a jerk, but I think that is just him. Strong, maybe too smart for his own good, and wants things his way. I do not think he is the perfect candidate, but I do not think any of them are, or we would all already be behind one. Long story to say I agree with you that I do think he in many ways is being the most honest.

I think so much of what we see in DT is his NYC brash persona. NYCers are a different breed (as SD can attest), and they just put it out there and don't care if anyone likes it or not.

CORRECT. When you see heavyweights like Mark Steyn and Mark Levin and Andy McCarthy backing up what Trump says on this matter, you gotta know he's not on the wrong path.

I'll say something else for Trump...besides using his own money (in addition to unsolicited donations sent in by individuals), he is faithful to be a good steward wherever he goes. When he went to Mobile, they started out in a place that held like 500 people. Then they sold way more tickets and moved to a second larger arena. Then they had to move to the football stadium, where he had a crowd of 30,000. Even though he didn't use the first two venues, he paid them in full for them, where a lot of people/campaigns would have stiffed them. When he said he'd take kids for a ride in his helicopter at the Iowa State Fair, and the fair people said he couldn't use their property, he had his people find a property nearby where he could land his craft and give kids rides.

He's also a gentlemen (despite what you hear to the contrary)...he ALWAYS compliments people who do a good job, he ALWAYS poses with LEOs who provide security at his events, he ALWAYS signs autographs, etc., even though he doesn't like shaking hands (germophobe), and is ALWAYS complimentary of the military. At either the CNN or FBN debate, he was the only candidate who said in his opening or closing remarks that he thanked them for having him there and that he was honored to be there. Besides seeing all these things, if you look at his kids (the elder four, esp....nothing against Barron, but he's like 9), you really get the idea that he has sound values. They are some of the nicest, hard-working, God-fearing, family-oriented people you'll ever run across, and when you consider the attitudes/behavior of many of their peers who also grew up in the lap of luxury, you get an idea of just how unusual they are. That doesn't happen in a vacuum.

Well, I hope you guys are right. I do think he has a very good chance at becoming the nominee.

Just wish he'd take a class on tact and diplomacy so he could lower his negatives. I think we are all aware that he needs to turn out the GOP voters and get a nice chunk of the swing voters to win.
