It doesn't even look like a campaign here, no signs or mailers, nada. Maybe it's all in Paulding. I have stayed out of the fray, although I own property in the 19th, since I can't vote there. I will say this, with everything else being equal, I would vote for the candidate with the NRA endorsement. Fox is right, PRB may not be the best, but she votes like I would want her to. She needs to get her personal business settled. The attacks against her are so off the wall that they lose credibility. Morrison is running in response to their lawsuit. I would put money on it.

Exactly how would she be able to effect anything connected to the lawsuit in a State position. I could understand if she was in a county position, but as a state legislator her position would be on state laws.
It runs both ways. Anything the County (any County) wants to do, they have to go to the State for a major project. Road construction for example. The County did not build that useless airport by themselves. A local example; the City of Hardeeville, South Carolina wanted to build a Resort/Casino which would have employed 45,000 people. The State nixed it. Hardeeville is 15 miles away from my house here.
What better way to score some payback than for Mrs. Morrison to be elected and the Paulding Officials would then have to deal with her. I'm not saying this is so, I'm just saying that the timing is suspect, at best.

I have to agree with the timing being suspect. As the representative for 19 she could prevent or slow down funding requests to the state from the county.

But do you really think she would? :dunno

I don't know, but as a voter I'm not willing to take that chance.

That "useless airport" just won this County the North American headquarters for a international business that will be creating jobs in Paulding County and will be first business to locate in a new 500K sq ft "Class A" industrial/office building.

And there are several other large businesses looking at Paulding County because of that "useless airport". News coming soon.

I haven't heard that and I hope it is going to happen. Maybe I'll be able to sell my house there after all!

Vision? More like delusions of grandeur.

Take a step back and think about this. Richardson was a state senator from this same district, do you think he had no influence or input on Paulding County happenings??
Speaker of the House. May have actually been the first Republican one. I think he may still have a lot of influence.

http://dallas-hiram.patch.com/articles/update-interroll-to-open-center-in-paulding-county

Just announced Friday I think.

I can get your house sold, that's my job. But you may not like what I tell you to get it sold. This announcement will have no effect on the local housing market.

Did you ever take the time to talk to him? I have, on many occasions and learn a tremendous amount of how this County works and the issues he faced every day.

That's 70 jobs in a county of 144,000. Just some perspective.

That's 70 jobs we didn't have before. Having that company here will also help to draw others.

Yep, that's 70 jobs - if those jobs pay at least $30,000 a year, that's at least $2.1 million dollars earned in Paulding and hopefully spent here (after Uncle Sam and Cousin Georgia get their share).

Don't get me wrong, any job is a good thing. I'm just trying to provide a little perspective, and these jobs had opportunity costs also.

I am glad the county decided to begin quality commercial development near the spray fields, and unlike many, I think the airport will be good in the long term. I'm just not going to get all misty over the promise of 70 jobs. Hopefully many more are to come.

It's definitely a start and I hope our county and keep up the momentum. And, you have to be especially impressed that they can lure anyone (much less a business) close to the spray fields! Even my princess refers to Bill Carruth Parkway as the "road that smells."

Gotta learn to crawl before you can walk. Gotta learn to walk before you can run! It's a step in the right direction.

Remember, we've had 40 years of refusing commercial development, it's not going to improve overnight, especially in this economy. But it is starting....one step at a time!

Not near the spray fields....but ON the spayfields. They were shut down 4 years ago I think.

Exactly - I'm excited to see development in our county (although I think the airport had very little to do with it in this situation).

By spray fields, I mean those fields on Bill Carruth Parkway by the railroad tracks. I haven't paid attention lately, but I KNOW that I've seen them up and running (and the smell is still there)!

I know that they were scheduled to be shut down, but I'm not sure they have been shut down completely. The property was transferred to the building authority 2 years ago. Paulding has permits to expand Pumpkinvine and Dallas West and North Plants to take up the slack and provide some expanded capacity. Not sure how the construction has progressed.

I've definitely seen them spraying this year so someone is still turning the water on.... And the smell... :sick
