On Thursday, Georgia State Representative Paulette Rakestraw Braddock (R-HD19) of Paulding County was endorsed by the National Rifle Association (NRA) with an “A+” rating.

Also late last week, Braddock learned of another gun rights organization, Georgia Carry, her endorsement for the July 31 Republican primary by Georgia Carry, the leader in the fight to reclaim and expand citizens’ right to bear arms.

So? She's a republican, she's expected to vote to protect the right to carry.
Considering the other two candidates didn't respond to the NRA questionnaire. Hmmmm.....

Not all representatives, regardless of the R or D, get that endorsement. They review their voting history.

Which means Paulette received the endorsement by default.

In some ways, yes but the NRA states: The NRA-PVF is non-partisan in issuing its candidate grades and endorsements. We do not base our decisions on a candidate's party affiliation, but rather on his or her record on Second Amendment issues. The NRA is a single issue organization. The only issues on which we evaluate candidates seeking elected office are gun-related issues.

So they also check their voting record not just questions. Since the other two have never been elected, they have to rely on questions and neither responded.

Yes, correct if they are in office already as verification.

No, she had her voting record and she answered the questionnaire.

She received it by default as her opponents had no voting record and did not answer the questionnaire.

It's been a few years, but my first encounter with Paulette was less then nice. She was campaigning outside the Dallas Theater prior to an event. Once she noticed I was a crew member of the event she approached me wanting to make sure the show endorsed her somehow during the show. I informed her Jeff would not be endorsing any candidate at the show. She said some very choice words and stormed off. IMO, her character and demeandor spoke volumes for me

No. There is no requirement they endorse anyone in a race. If she hadn't answered and her voting record didn't support the NRA and the Second Amendment, she would not have received an A+.

It doesn't even look like a campaign here, no signs or mailers, nada. Maybe it's all in Paulding. I have stayed out of the fray, although I own property in the 19th, since I can't vote there. I will say this, with everything else being equal, I would vote for the candidate with the NRA endorsement. Fox is right, PRB may not be the best, but she votes like I would want her to. She needs to get her personal business settled. The attacks against her are so off the wall that they lose credibility. Morrison is running in response to their lawsuit. I would put money on it.

Exactly how would she be able to effect anything connected to the lawsuit in a State position. I could understand if she was in a county position, but as a state legislator her position would be on state laws.

Take a step back and think about this. Richardson was a state senator from this same district, do you think he had no influence or input on Paulding County happenings??

Maybe you should point your question to those who believe Ms. Braddock used her position to skirt around the IRS. (Which isn't true, but is funny.)

No, Glenn was "Speaker of the HOUSE", not a senator. Just to clarify

If she is elected, the perception will be that since Ms. Morrison is the State Representative for Paulding, the county should settle the lawsuit with her in order to promote some good will between the two. After all, if Ms. Morrison is working for Paulding, then Paulding should work for Ms. Morrison. That will be the perception - it may not be her expectation, but there will be those in government (from both sides) who will "encourage" it to go away so it doesn't "look bad."

It runs both ways. Anything the County (any County) wants to do, they have to go to the State for a major project. Road construction for example. The County did not build that useless airport by themselves.
What better way to score some payback than for Mrs. Morrison to be elected and the Paulding Officials would then have to deal with her. I'm not saying this is so, I'm just saying that the timing is suspect, at best.

The County did not build that useless airport by themselves. A local example; the City of Hardeeville, South Carolina wanted to build a Resort/Casino which would have employed 45,000 people. The State nixed it. Hardeeville is 15 miles away from my house here.

I have to agree with the timing being suspect. As the representative for 19 she could prevent or slow down funding requests to the state from the county.
