It may not be a good time to make a change. stirthepot2

As of this week, Paulding unemployment is down, and more new jobs are coming this way. :poke2

I'm not voting for change; however, if a more viable candidate comes along in 2014, I will.

You know I love you Madea but there is absoulutely no way I can vote for Paulette Braddock.

If there were one or two negatives to consider, I could consider it; however, with SO many negatives, there is no way I could, with a clear conscience, cast a vote for her.

I truly believe that unfortunately, she will be re-elected but I also see the very real possibility of lots of controversy and trouble in the horizon. I don't want the citizens of this District to go through any more embarrassment.

I understand there are always two sides to every story and I preach that all the time. I also know that the "blame game" goes on in divorces all the time - she didn't pay this, he didn't pay that, she left me with this debt, he left me with that debt, she was irresponsible, he was irresponsible.........................I have heard from a couple of people that blame all her issues on her last divorce. I"m sorry - I'm just not buying it.

I know a lot of people here don't agree with me on this and we can just respectfully disagree but I personally don't want to vote for someone whose only "claim to fame" is that she votes the right way. I want a Representative that will take the initiative to introduce significant legislation that will be beneficial to the people of the State of Georgia and our District. I want someone who will not simply be a "yes" person. I want someone who will not be distracted by the many, many tax issues and legal issues they have going on. I have said this before and I will say it again - Paulette's paycheck comes from the tax paying citizens of our State. How can she, with a clear conscience, draw a paycheck from us when she has a "boat load" of unpaid taxes herself?

I am of the opinion that in this particular race, the "fear of the known" is a lot greater than the "fear of the unknown."

I still love ya though Madea! :)

BB I understand your thoughts and opinions (which I respect) regarding Paulette, but who do you support? I have not seen or heard much regarding the other candidates (well I now know one's husband came her to defend her (him?) That in itself bothers me because I feel as if this is position where you need to be able to handle your own battles and any questions that arise, not have your husband do so. (It would not have bothered me if a supporter did it, just that it was her husband. Gives me (personal opinion) a feeling that she can not speak for herself. :dunno ) The other candidate I barely know his name and have not heard anything really.

This has been a tough race and I have put lots of thought into it and prayed lots of prayers about it. I will be the first to admit that I, when Melissa Morrison first qualified, thought there would be no way that I could support her due to the pending lawsuit against the county.

Since that time, I have gotten to know Melissa and have spent quite a bit of time with her. I believe she is a true Republican. I don't believe she has any ulterior motives for running for this office and I truly believe she has the best interests of the citizens of not only this District, but this state in mind. I believe that Melissa is very intelligent, sincere, concerned and would be dedicated to serving the citizens of our District. I no longer have the fear that Melissa will be "influenced negatively" by others - as I have gotten to know her, I realize that is not the case.

Melissa also owes NO taxes - no state taxes, no federal taxes, no withholding taxes, no sales taxes, etc. I know I keep harping on this but it is truly very important to me that anyone that represents us in the capactiy of a governmental leader and who makes decisions for us on a daily basis, should not be delinquent on paying their income taxes. I can assure you that if I were an elected official attempting to represent the best interests of the citizens I represent, if I had ANY delinquent taxes I would simply disqualify myself as representing the District and then get to work on paying my taxes - no matter how many jobs I had to work to be able to pay them.

I am just one person, my vote counts no more than anyone else's but these are my opinions. I respect everyone here on dallashwy.com and have lots of friends here that I treasure. We are not always going to agree on every issue but hey - my husband of 32 years and I don't agree on every issue but I still love him to pieces! :)

FWIW, I'm with Beach Bum on this one. Probably won't make a difference, but I'm going to vote my conscience.

SD - I didn't see a problem with surepip posting the response to the business question on here in that it was a direct statement about a business he had started and owned. From what I know about her, I'm guessing she didn't ask him to do that. But I don't blame him for doing it, either.

Sorry, but I feel the choices we have in 19 are all poor. I don't trust Melissa Morrison because I question her motives for running. I suspect their lawsuit against the county may have something to do with it. She's a nice lady, but I don't vote for someone just because they're nice.

Paulette, as sorry as her business problems are does have a proven voting record in the state house. Though some may say she's a "puppet" voting the way the GOP wants her to, her votes for the most part were how I would have voted and that's important to me.

As I said before, I hope a much better candidate comes along in 2014 that I can support 100%.

What I don't understand is, why did Melissa Morrison join our site, but then not answer one single question people asked her here?

At this point, I'm planning on leaving the ballot blank in that race. If I do decide to cast a vote, it will likely be for Mr. James.

I'd never vote for Braddock for all the reasons floating around out there.

Despite all the protests to the contrary, I am firmly convinced that Mrs. Morrison's candidacy is rooted in and spurred on by the lawsuit. I think it is a matter of trying to attain a position of power in order to influence (albeit indirectly) the outcome of and actions of the defendant in their lawsuit. If she is holding the State's pursestrings as a legislator and has a vendetta against the very county government that she should be working with and an advocate for, to me that's a major conflict of interest.

Mr. James said some pretty outrageous things early on in his campaign. He's toned it down a bit and I sort of attribute his actions to trying to grab some of the spotlight for himself. If I decide to vote in this race, it will be him. Strictly because he is the lesser of the evils.

I agree.

MeiLan she might not have asked her husband to do it, but by doing so it gave me the impression he is fighting her battles. (for a lack of a better word. I have only had 4 cups of coffee. ;) )

Yeah. Surepip-lite. Goes back to my comments above^^^^

As I am not in this district I have tried to remain quiet. Malissa is indeed a Conservatibe Republican. She speaks her mind regardless of her husband's point of view. Their suit against the county has nothing to do with her run for office. I suspect she would not have ran if a better candidate had qualified.

Ditto Fox! When voting the "right way" is in line with how I would want her to vote, then that's what I want.

I do love and respect you too, BB, and that will never change, but I don't see me being able to change my mind on this one this time around.

No, I don't think you have to remain quiet. What happens in this area affects all of us.

And to those who would counter that I'm in "lockstep" with the local GOP, I would counter that it's not my fault that you failed to deliver a candidate that I could support. If you believe I'm in lockstep, you have missed a lot.

So I'm thinking if I lived in 19, I'm not sure I could cast a vote for someone that has a law suit against the county. I'm not sure I could vote for someone that had judgements and liens against them either. So I would either not vote or give the other guy a chance. I just can't imagine not voting at all. However what happens in 19 will have an effect on me and my business.

Just like in 31 and all it's ugliness, I'm voting for the guy that has stayed above the fray. JK Rogers has my vote, he's more than capable of doing the job. ;)

Good luck to those in 19.

I still believe the guy is a plant from the Braddock haters to split the vote. He has some outrageous banner ads. I've "googled" him and can't find a website for his campaign. Haven't even found a Facebook page. As much as it would pain me, I'd rather skip it than vote for him.

You are probably right. Do you think Morrison has a chance to get over 50%?? Looks like it's just going to be a runoff between Paulette and Melissa. Oh well.

I'm not sure. But, if they can force a run off, they have more time to get their "message" out. ;) Since the challenge failed, they have had to "scramble" a bit. Apparently they haven't had enough time to get out nasty mailers, or they don't have the funds to do so. But, they are probably coming.
