Say what you want, but I don't think it's the bacon grease killing us. I think it's the processed foods, hormones added to our meats and chemicals on our fruits and vegetables.
My grandmother lived on lard. She lived to almost 91. Both of her parents lived to 90s. Her youngest brother recently passed away at 94. Sunday dinner was always fried chicken, pinto beans, fried potatoes, cole slaw and biscuits. And with the exception of the cole slaw, it was all cooked with lard.
I agree that it is the processed foods and hormones, but that does include that bacon fat. LOL
We eat as organic as we can afford to. We always have, but I think that the chemicals around us now compared to our grandparents is so significantly more it is almost impossible to avoid completely.
Also while they did eat what some might consider a less than healthy diet their lifestyles were different too.
We are a much lazier society than they were. )
