when my mom is here and I cook bacon she fusses at me when I throw out my bacon grease. She says you save it to flavor things with or to cook in it

what do you do with your bacon grease?

Trash it. Lol I hate the smell when I'm done making bacon. I immediately clean the stove and counters and trash the grease as soon as its cool enough.

I don't do as much as I used to since we've switched to turkey bacon. Used to use just a touch of it to lube the pan for eggs ... I've used some on the dogs' food from time to time ... I've used the "clean" top layer in bird food yummies for the wild birds.

I get rid of it right away. Of course, I fry it on the Foreman Grill, so it's pretty easy to get rid of it. Bacon smells good and tastes good, but not so much afterward. If I cook with oil, I prefer to use olive oil or canola oil.

that is what I use too but My mom made me save it

I love my olive oil the most but if I fry something like deep fry I use Canola cause it cost less

I thought when I heard of people cooking things like green beans with bacon grease :sick they fried up some bacon and used the grease. I had no idea they used old grease.

girl my beans are soooo good. My poopaw loves them. He says they reminded him of his mommas

they are good! It takes about 5 to 6 hours for me to cook a pot

I have to bring my beans to not only all my family functions but my husbands too.

I used to save bacon grease, but decided it was rather gross so I quit doing that a number of years ago. My mom still saves it but I have no idea where she keeps it...prob in a bacon grease jar near the stove.

Here's what I can't seem to throw out...Folgers coffee plastic containers. For some strange reason, I feel compelled to wash those and keep them in a cabinet. I guess I'll find a use for them one day. (A bit off topic, I know)

It flavors green beans and makes them taste like they were cooked in HEAVEN! We save it for beans, cabbage and to cook with eggs. MMMMMMMmmmmmmm! :DN

Or you can go with steamed and actual green bean flavor that taste great and then a vegetable is not going to clog your arteries. Just saying. :))
