Nikki Haley 2024

I could support a DeSantis/Haley ticket although he probably should pick someone from a swing state.
Though I'm not a fan of diversity picks, the GOP might need to go that route to win. But, that person should still be qualified.

I would be fine with with Haley or Scott on the ticket because I really like both of them, and could support either for the top spot if they had a real shot at winning.

"NHIOP Poll: Haley Now 2nd in N.H. as DeSantis Plummets

In the latest New Hampshire Institute of Politics (NHIOP) poll, Haley has 15% of the support and DeSantis slipped to third with 11%, 18 percentage points lower than what he polled in March, and just a point ahead of former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie."

I was about to post this.

I think we'll see Haley move into second in more states very soon, especially is she has another strong performance in the next debate.

DeSantis is running out of time. I like the guy and I think he'd make a good president, but his campaign has been pretty bad. I go back to what I originally said; he should have sat this one out and waited until next time. Though he's a strong leader, he's green as a politician and I think he miscalculated as to how he would play on the national field.

Haley said that funding Ukraine amounts to only a paltry sum of the military budget.

It's nice to know now that she thinks $75 billion is a ''paltry amount.'' She's forgetting to add the value of the weapons and munitions the US has given to Ukraine out of our arsenals. DoD signed a new contract worth $18.2 billion to replenish those arsenals. Let's not forget the 19 F-16s this administration has promised Ukraine. One F-16 cost the US $63 million dollars. That's another $1.2 billion dollars. Those F-16s won't do any good if they aren't armed, increasing our aid significantly. The total on all of these is $95.03 billion. I bet that's more than any NATO country has given or the other NATO countries combined.

I disagree with her about Ukraine being a national security issue for us. When someone says it is, I wish they would explain why they believe it. Ukraine is not a member of NATO, so we have no obligation to defend it. What was our national security policy each time the USSR invaded 14 other countries and took control of them? Did we make any effort to defend any one of them or provide them with weapons to fight the Soviets? Nope. So, what is different today?

I have now lost a lot of respect for Nikki.

I'm curious about all these fundraising amounts and I'm wondering if some campaigns aren't playing with the numbers.

It doesn't specifically say that the $11 million Haley raised was done so by her campaign or combined with her Super PAC. Ditto for the Trump announcement last week. DeSantis did specifically say the $15 million was raised by his campaign and his Super PAC raised another $20 million.

We won't know for sure until 10/15 when FEC reports are due but it wouldn't surprise me if some campaigns are announcing combined totals now hoping that nobody will notice when official numbers come out.
