Electric vehicles....

I can't think of any time in history where auto makers produced cars the public didn't want.

Buttigieg rejects critics of EV future: Like people in 2000s saying we could have landlines forever

Buttigieg must have his brain all filled with shit... he is incorrect. I know early on many third world countries embraced cell phones because they did not have the infrastructure for land lines.

The government did not outlaw landlines. They are still available. The free market chose to go wireless. There is no comparison.

QUALCOMM which was a start up company in the 80's in San Diego, pushed for CDMA wireless cell phone technology.

QUALCOMM sold a two-way mobile digital satellite communications system known as Omnitracs. Trucking companies used the Omnitracs satellite communications system. Omnitracs profits helped fund Qualcomm's research and development into code-division multiple access (CDMA) technologies for cell phone networks. After a heated debate in the wireless industry, CDMA was adopted as a 2G standard in North America with Qualcomm's patents incorporated.

I knew the QUALCOMM team that travelled all over the world especially third world countries like Vietnam, Malaysia, and Brazil to demo how cellular could give instant phone communication without the land line infrastructure needed to a country.
