Defunding police departments?????

We now see a demand from the left to start defunding police departments and replace them with a new form of public safety utilizing social workers to do some of what police officers do. Crazy new policies from the left are always knee-jerk reactions following incidents similar to what happened to George Floyd. Present Democrats in Congress are now backtracking on tough crime bills they voted in favor of back in the 90s. This only goes to prove these Democrats vote based on how the wind is blowing at the time.

Oh I'm sure the left wants police departments defunded. It's much easier to have civil unrest when there's no police to keep the criminals at bay.

Why does the left want civil unrest? Well, if you're a student of history, you will know.

Los Angeles has already voted to remove $150 million from the police budget, roll back police raises and redistribute those funds to needy social programs. The police union is getting ready to go to war with the city council.

Cutting funding for police + rolling back raises = Lower pay for cops
Lower pay for cops = Less qualified cops
Less qualified cops = More bad cops
More bad cops = Increased bad actions by those bad cops
Increased bad actions by those bad cops = More protesting, looting, rioting

Rinse and repeat.

And when the rioting starts,,, so will the 'Blue Flu'. L.A. City Council doesn't have a brain in their head!

Details, details, details. We don't need no stinking details.

I'm all for taking away some of the toys meant for fighting terrorism that are being used to execute no-knock warrants against low level drug offenders. Anything given to them through the Patriot Act should be sold to the military and the proceeds used to buy vests for departments in poor counties.

Beyond that, I don't think they are overpaid and some departments need training in community policing instead of military urban warfare. Rural departments need a lot more funding.

Sure why not... Minneapolis does not need police :cop:protection... the citizens are like Mayberry in the 50's... I'm sure of it.:banghead:

More like they a need assistance from foreign nations to protect the people, like citizens in Somalia need protection from the war lords. :tank:

Or maybe our brave patriots... yeah... maybe Martial Law:army:

So are cops now going to be arrested for using stun guns or tasers to stop someone? I saw a news story that showed the use of taser by a cop and I am pretty sure he has now been arrested. This is getting way out of hand here. Even non lethal forms of bringing someone down are going to end up being banned. What will be left?

Minneapolis mayor Jacob Frey rejects city council's push to defund police, despite veto-proof majority

When big insurance companies refuse to insure property in these cities, they'll wake up and see how valuable police really are. Why would anyone want to open a store in an area with no police?

If they mean demilitarize, I'm in. The Patriot Act gave them a bunch of new toys that they use primarily to destroy the property of low level drug offenders. But actually remove officers, cars, vests, etc? No.

Let it burn, we can watch it on the news since Live PD is off air. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. I'm all in for additional training, even a national standards test if not already in effect, but that costs more money not less.

I'm really surprised that the MPD union hasn't declared a "free from police day" when they all promise to stay in the station all day to let the people see how a day without police will work.

I'd pay per view to watch the coverage of the craziness that day.
