Bankruptcies, Business Failures, Layoffs, etc

Hiram seems over supplied for restaurants. We went to McAlisters Deli for lunch, no crowd at all, about 10 tables were being used at 12:30. No line.

Only crowded place I've seen at lunch is Chick Fil A.
It's the same way here. Across the street from CFA here are McD's, BK, Zaxby's, Arby's and Popeyes. They're dead compared to CFA.

I think it's more that people have cut way back on eating out because of inflation. Restaurants are dropping like flies and will likely get worse.

And that makes me even more glad I sold my business, most of our work was with restaurants. We went out on top.

Best way to go out. Too bad too many people wait until things get bad to make a move. My PIL could have moved out 5 years before they did and sold the house for over $100,000. Instead, they waited until after the Austell floods and they were lucky to $45,000 in 2011.

yeah, 1/2 sandwich and 1/2 salad for me, 1/2 sandwich and cup of soup for the wife and two drinks.. over $30

Wouldn't have gone out but we went to visit my wife's favorite cousin who was fine Thursday, fell Friday and went into hospice yesterday. :( Not what she needed while still recovering from earlier this year...

At one time, $30 would have bought two steak dinners.

I hate to admit it, but I'm not sure there are enough good looking women in Hiram for a local Hooters to hire from. Wife and I had gotten into eating there for awhile, and there were always very few waitresses I would consider to be "hot".

OK, that's not what makes one a good waitress, but it is what Hooter's business model was about, so it matters.

My wife absolutely refused to ever eat at Hooters... I suppose she'd rather me gawk at the snagglers from the Waffle House.

The sky is falling! For a year now these so called economists and economic analysts have been predicting the economy could go into a recession. Not will but could. There's a huge difference between will and could.

The brick and mortar theater is dying, folks. It's only a matter of time. Personally, I will welcome it; let movies go direct to consumers once released instead of the theaters getting their chance first. They did a dry run of this during COVID and I liked it. Yes, the pricing structure will chance, but I would rather pay the price to watch a movie at home than in a germ-ridden theater. I do hope physical media wins out though, it's fighting to stay alive.
