This is becoming daily news. Instead of posting multiple threads, I'm gonna make this one a sticky as a place to keep up with these.

Popular mall retailer to close all 44 locations after filing for bankruptcy as storefront and online sales will cease

The economy is far from being stable. Brick and mortar retailers and a "green" California based EV manufacturer are no big surprise. K-Mart was an albatross around Sears & Roebuck helping them go down the toilet. The owners of mall retail space had better figure out what to do with a lot of empty space or there will be a lot of blight around these buildings.

We have ( had) a very popular mall here in Phoenix called "Paradise Valley Mall".
In the 80's and 90's it was booming with anchors of Macy's, Dillard's & J.C. Penny.

It really went downhill over the last decade.
It has been redesigned as mixed-use with housing and shopping and business.

This is probably the wave of the future.

The former Regency Mall in Augusta was doomed from the beginning. To make a long story short, the mall closed in 2000 and has been vacant ever since. The parking lot is covered with vegetation. The plan is to convert the mall into condos, restaurants, stores, and an elementary school. I have no idea what condition the building is in, but it can't be all that good if it's been vacant for the last 23 years.

Lots of malls will transform to other office space.

... demolition crews have scraped away the facade of the once-iconic Horton Plaza mall, rendering it unrecognizable in some spots.

Demolition work has dramatically altered the site of the former mall that helped to anchor the revitalization of San Diego’s downtown and Gaslamp Quarter.

The work is being done to make way for a new $330 million high-tech office campus and lifestyle center called the Campus at Horton, much of which will utilize the bones of Horton Plaza. Developers expect the final site to boast 700,000 square feet of office space and 300,000 square feet of retail space, including both restaurants as well as shops.

Good news for commuters: The Campus at Horton will retain Horton Plaza's parking garage, enough spaces for 2,200 drivers to park.

Horton Plaza, the colorful old shopping mall that once attracted crowds to downtown San Diego, is now being redeveloped into a brand new mixed-use research campus called Horton.

For the Average to be that much over the Mean... it shows a lot of wealth is concentrated in Mudflat's and Guard Dad's pockets.

We literally stopped visiting Arbor Place Mall in Douglasville due to the crime, riff raff, fights etc.

Although I'm not a huge fan of Amazon, I find myself going there 1st to check out a price of tools to see if they're cheaper than Home Depot, Ace or Lowes. More often than not, Amazon has the best deals.

If I miss a couple of days of Amazon deliveries, they check on me to make sure I'm OK.

Because of my hobbies and weird projects, I buy a lot of stuff that is hard to find. Radio Shack used to carry much of it, but we all know what happened there. Amazon has virtually EVERYTHING, so it works to supply a lot of my odd needs.

Hundreds of CVS stores to close for good as chain with over 9,000 locations rolls out huge policy change through 2024
