What do we do with the airport?

Let's go back to the original plan. Costs were calculated, projects were bid, but they ran out of money falling short of their original plan. Now we are spending millions more to complete what "was planned" from the beginning. Who prepared that plan that didn't work out the way it was supposed to? IF you know what you are doing, you build cost overruns and raw material increases into the base.

Sounds like someone doesn't know "Proper prior planning prevents p*ss poor performance". This is what happens with inexperience, when you don't know what you are doing.

Now some want us to trust they'll get it right "this time"? Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.

There's no doubt the whole cost thing is troublesome and I do understand the concerns about the change in course from no commercial flights to now including them. It absolutely makes it difficult to have too much faith in the project.

The original plan and cost analysis was under a different board, if I remember correctly.

I do agree that the airport is not making money as it should. I think it is a good thing for the county to look at making it work for the county and not just a drain on funds. I do not know if the turn in running vacation commercial flights was the way they turned because they realized the small occasional planes would never turn the airport profitable or if that turn was for some other reason.

I am still on the fence whether they are right and can make it work or this is just another project that will not have great results. I will say this one, verses some others I have given more benefit of the doubt just because I can see it working, if done right, and can see the potential that it could be profitable.

Blake Swafford and Calvin Thompson have been with the airport since the beginning. Blake ran the project and he still runs the airport. Do you not have any comments on my friend's findings?

Building business complexes, business park with IT, aerospace, biotech, what ever around the airport as it was intended to be but with General Aviation only. This BOC powers decided to say screw that, we want commercial jet liners and we don't care what the people say or think. Bring tech industry here and it will work.

The original plan and cost analysis was done by Swafford and Thompson? That will change my question at my meeting. Thank you.

No. I do not know your friend, he makes some points that I do not know if have been addressed at any time or not. And since he is not here to address anything I might ask I feel as if it would be better not to. I appreciate his thoughts and again gives me more to think about.
