Special Election for Beer & Wine

This is a very old trick. Let me ask how many heard about the election from someone at your Church, from the pastor on Sunday, or from a Church e-mail or newsletter?

This is the only place I heard about it.

I don't know whether to vote yes just to poke the eye of the obnoxious sanctimonious legalistic types or no just to poke the eye of the obnoxious annoying whiner types who don't want to be troubled to buy their beer on Saturdays.

I'll probably vote yes simply because it's utterly ridiculous for it to be sold in some places and not in others. And the idea of not selling on Sundays is ridiculous.

It hasn't even been mentioned in our church (and it's a baptist church).

I'm surprised. When beer and wine sales liquor sales, and when bars were first being voted upon here in Georgia, it was common practice for the county BOE to call a double secret special election and only inform the pastors and a few anti drinking groups. The election would not be otherwise advertised except as required by law, which is quite minimal. The reasons for this are obvious.

This was the way it was where I grew up.

Where do you even vote on this one? Regular polling place?

I think so, I voted at the middle school this morning.

I hate to say this, but I am going to miss this vote - I forgot about it this morning and the princess has her piano lesson tonight. I will remind the hubby to stop and vote on his way home though.

Our pastor talked about it this past Sunday. He urged everyone to go out and vote no.

I'm guessing it wasn't a Catholic church... :whistle :whistle

Turnout is going to be laughable on this. And again I say ... what an absolutely asinine waste of taxpayer money.

Not to mention the potential for additional revenue if it passes. This is an old school trick and the money spent IS asinine. I'm more disappointed in these elected officials every time something comes up for a vote.

It's time for a changing of the guard, again. I hope Todd Pownall runs for Commission Chair. ;D

I thought about it at 6pm, but I honestly didn't care enough to disappoint two 13 yo boys who were waiting on me. :dunno
