Special Election for Beer & Wine

Rolling down the highway
March 19. This is for all of Paulding County even though some ciites have already approved it. Not hearing a lot about it, but thought I'd give you a heads up. Early voting has already started.

I'm voting no - Diva's buddies at the liquor store outside the city limits deserve a day off!!

I'm thinking NG's already been in the alcohol. :poke2

"cause I can't spell?? (hic) :laugh

I had a busy day, just wanted to let y'all know. BTW cities is spelled right here.

Hubby asked David Austin Back in early 2012, when other counties had already had an opportunity to vote on this, "When would Paulding have the opportunity to vote on their choice ... yes...or ...no, since most of the other counties had been given that chance?"

He lied to hubby and said he wanted to wait until an election cycle that it could be done without incurring the expense of a special election.

I bet Hubby that he would not do it in 2012 ...even with all the "scheduled" elections.

I won.

His family is part of the "families" that I was told back in 1998 that, "We will never have Sunday sales in Paulding, because the families that control the county don't want it."

I think the wuss though if he put it up for a vote, he would lose the votes for his re-election, of his original Paulding good ol' boy families!

Glad the county gets to vote... It's Chicken S#it that Austin did it as a special election...just say'n.

I voted for him the first time... I thought he did a good job. Like most politicians, they should serve, then go back to their real job. In my book, incumbents should never be voted for!

Ok, help me out here ... what are we voting on? We have Sunday sales in county now. I'm so lost.

Oh wait ... is this for the county vs. the cities/towns? So the 3 or 4 vendors this would impact must really be sitting on the edge of their seats. ::)

And I am beyond ticked off at the wasted money involved in this. No way this should be a special election.

I agree, and it's getting very little attention, I think that's their plan. Hoping no one shows up and their friends defeat it yet again. Stoopid Old Farts. LOL

Aren't the Sunday sales only in restaurants now? Wouldn't the election allow grocery stores, likker stores, and the like sell as well? Or am I misunderstanding things?

No way should it be a special election. This is reminiscent of the school bond election. :rant

Nope ... I've already bought alkie-haul in stores on Sunday.

So what's this stupid money-pit of an election for, then?

I believe it is for either in or out of city limits. One you can now, one you can't. I know where you can buy it now :Ninja but with the lines as they are I have no clue if the places are in or out of the city limits.

Way up yonder in North Paulding, the men folk will not hafta drive
25 minutes to Harem or Cartersville for our lazy Sunday libations...

I agree that this spring special election is insulting to taxpayer dollars,
they could have easily placed this measure on the ballot in November.

David Austin is on his way to Jerry Shearin ville.

I understand he has given contracts to companies outside our county, contracts that were bid for work in our county, but the locals were not informed of the bid... last time they were included in the bid process. The money is leaving our county now.

There are some power plays, as in companies who supported "the other guy" with a campaign donation, were cut off from County business.

Then this special election .... same games as the previous guys. :elmergun

Soooooo disappointed with Austin! :BH

I'm with you Far West, I had big hope for good things to come. Unfortunately David Austin has gone the same way as most politicians, so disappointed in him. :waggingfinger

I don't mind if contracts are being given to companies outside of Paulding if they win the bid, but then I thought all of the bids were posted on the county's website? :dunno
