God's Word teaches us to beware of the false prophets. There are many who profess to be a Christian person of faith who will intentionally twist scripture for personal gain or other motives. We have seen so far in our own lifetimes and in history those who started cults professing Christianity i.e. Jim Jones and David Koresh.

God also instructs us to study scripture so we further develop our relationship with Him as well as identify the false prophets.

But does that mean that if you and I disagree on the interpretation of a verse, one of us is a false prophet?

Right. On what basis do you determine which one is the false prophet?
