Ok UPS. Let me see if I follow your "logic".

As far as the money goes, I'd tell them to keep it. The Boy Scouts were around loooong before anyone ever thought of UPS and I am confident they will be around for a looong time when they are gone.

If UPS elected to stop giving to the Boy Scouts as a tax break, they could have simply stopped. Issuing a statement only reveals their agenda. Okay, fine. I'm all for a private company doing what they please. I'd like to thank them for letting us know where they stand.....so I can take a stand and begin using another service ;D

I missed that earlier, not true. :)
Right ...
UPS - 1907
BSA - 1910 (though the scouting program that it came from was formally established in 1907)

We use both Fedex and UPS and that won't change here. UPS can only be used when we deal with labor unions - they will not allow Fedex to enter their offices (seriously). We have attorneys here who have strong preferences for one over the other and it is usually tied to bad experiences.

Now, as for Girl Scouts - they do allow 40 year old males to go camping with their daughters. My boss went on a camping trip with his daughter every year that she was in GS. As for Boy Scouts - in my opinion, UPS has the right to pull their sponsorship for any reason or no reason at all. And, if they want to announce it, that's their right too.

By the way, the best way to teach a child good behavior is to model that behavior for them - if the Boy Scouts are excluding boys simply because they are gay, that is wrong, IMO.

Keep up this bickering and we will not stop for icecream!

We had a good debate, until this morning. :( (P.S. I don't really like ice cream)

I think so too. I have waited for everyone to have the opportunity to respond and will now close the topic. It was not my intent to get anyone ticked off at each other, just to have an interesting debate.

But now that it seems everyone has had a chance to have their say, I'll go ahead and close it so we can drive on :race

I never said gay men weren't strong men!!

Look I was a girl scout leader way back when, I was even a Service Unit Director. I had 4 girls in my troop that lived with Dad, no mom present. Had one girl that decided she was gay at 16, never said anything to her about it, we didn't discuss it. However I feel with every bone in my body that had I not been straight, she would have mimicked me and my behaviors. It would have been OK for her for the rest of her life.

Today, at 35 she is happily married to a man and has been in a relationship with him for over 15 years. Kids go through a lot during puberty, you never know what's happening at home. This poor girl had an awful home life, I found out later. I accepted her no matter what, she knew that and she still calls me to this day!!

I'm not asking anyone to support anything you don't want to, but why the H*ll does it matter to you. Are you going to go to your church and demand the congregation do things the way you want them to?? No you're not going to participate with that group, you're going to find one more aligned with your beliefs or conform to theirs.

Either support the Boy Scouts or don't. Demanding they change to the way you think they should be is ridiculous.

All this everyone should be equal stuff is what's ruining our kids. This is a result of feeling entitled to everything just because you want people to think and believe the way you do.

I hope and pray the BSA has enough support, both financially and from members, to always stay the way they are.
