Local debates

Thanks Madea. I did know you supported her and wanted to hear what you said.

I have looked at websites, but in all actuality anyone that makes a website to run is only going to put out the good and what they think the people want to hear. (that is for any and all races) I came here to ask personal opinions, because hey, I know we all have them! :laughbunny:

I do not know any of these candidates, and I am just trying to figure out which one I think is the best fit. Others might not agree and if I am totally honest the anti people seem to get their people out to vote more when the voting takes place outside of a major election, so this might be futile in my researching and questioning.

My boss was coming in and that's all I had time to type. LOL

I think there will be a run-off. Carmichael and (Anti-Airport candidate). In the run-off, the board will consist of a clean sweep. 5-0.

I think that is likely. The pro commercialization folks are oh fer three, and have lost with both light and heavy turnout. The one thing that is clear is that the majority of voters have overwhelming rejected commercialization since the airport was first conceived.

If you look at turnout, I think you will see that the Cedarcrest Corridor has been not very active in local elections. It is a very conservative, pro-business area. Whoever manages to get the support and turnout in the NE part of the County is going to win.

Possibly. This is the same area that just voted out the pro airport commissioner to put in the opposition.

I didn't make the debate Monday, but I did make the Wednesday one.

Im voting for Leggett, though, based on what I've read.

Mickey Tuck has my vote.

And Kerstin Liberty has my vote. It was very exciting to see Kerstin and Howard debate.
I already had planned to vote for her, but there is no way in the world I'd ever vote Maxwell after that.

Coroner is Eberheart

School board: Cobb, Dutton, Albright (I think.... I am going back and forth), and Fuller.

I have not seen the video of the debate with Liberty and Maxwell, I will have to try to watch it next week. The "no way in the world" intrigues me, I was planning on voting for him.
I was Eberheart for coroner until today. Someone (a few) shared a post and she posted I am not going to be negative, but. (I have posted before local elections make me cringe because friends and families we like, love, and know read and get hurt when candidates/ or their campaigners are ugly.)
Kim has my vote, as the bright yellow sign in my yard shows. :p

Because I walked away from that debate with the realization that he's a bumbling oaf and out of touch with his voter base. He insulted Kerstin with his very first question to her, (and a lot of folks in the audience) and I strongly disagree with what he stated his stance was on THC oil. That one was hard to swallow: I sat with my friend who is a breast cancer survivor. She battled stage 4 cancer and endured massive amounts of chemo, radiation, double masectamy (sp?) and reconstruction. She nearly died and she was in so much pain she welcomed it. There were days she couldn't turn her head to vomit into the bucket next to her bed. They thought she wouldn't make it. The only thing that would relieve her pain was pot, and here she was listening to this good ol' boy bumble on about THC oil.

:( Horrible. Sadly so many are not looking at the facts that it does help and just look at it as a gateway drug. People that are sick do not need a gateway drug! I am glad you wrote that your friend is a survivor!!!

I *sat with my friend. I just caught my autocorrect.

Now, don't get me wrong, there are several other things that made my mind up, not just that. He was asked about water (I can't recall the question) and he bumbled on about where he's lived in the area and what whether he's used county or well water. He didn't know the answer to the question.

Total hijack :

CBS Sunday Morning did a very interesting segment on seniors and marijuana for elderly ailments this week

Worth watching... ;)

Thanks.

I've read Eberhart's message. She has evidence that what she is saying is true. Why is that an issue? If you watch the debates, I think you will be less impressed with Barbara, and Todd Chatham didn't bother to show after indicating that he would be there.

Definitely watch the Maxwell/Liberty debate. Very enlightening.

Yes, I strongly suggest you watch the Libery/Maxwell debate as well. It is enlightening. And I think you'll change your mind about your choice. At least I hope so... LOL

I did watch the first debate and I was going to vote for E, the thing that bothers me is that when you call someone a liar. Now I do not know exactly how it all works with the coroners office, but to say in one breath you are not going to be negative and follow with but she lied, bothers me. I just think that the info could have been presented without calling anyone out, even saying they must have mis-spoke on their platform, because so and so happened and leave it up to people to find out if that is what happened why, and why did the candidate say one thing and do another earlier that day.
I cringe when locals call each other names, whether it is running, people in office, or people talking about people in office because they have friends and family that read this stuff. JMO
Do we know why Chatham did not show, especially after indicating he would?

I will get around to watching that other debate as soon as I can.

I didn't view it that way... I viewed it as she was defending herself, and simply pointing a situation out.

Here are the duties of the coroner. And this is why she is the most qualified to hold this position:

When I get a moment, I will post her qualifications unless someone can easily do it... I have to go get handprints from the kids in BabyB's class. I'll be back!

Defending herself against what?

Perhaps we are talking two different things... It was brought up that she operates a funeral home, and a funeral home business should be kept seperate from coroner... That she shouldn't be coroner because of her funeral home.
