Ferguson decision

I'm not sure I'll be listening again tonight. It was awful to hear last night.

I don't know how you did it as long as you did. I finally had to change the TV channel just so I could unwind and be able to sleep.

Sadly, this is far from over.

:pray

Fire trucks retreating due to shots fired. 3 structure fires still in progress.

It's time to let the Guard take over. Bust some butts and lock em up.

Was there anything effective the Guard could have done other than shooting people? Unless the city was ready for that, it was probably best that they left the guard save and let the protesters have the night. Had the protestors been going after innocent people, it would have been another story altogether.
See, that's the reason I'm not in charge. :))

The reason they didn't, from what I understand, was to keep from inciting more violence.

I agree. Listening to Rush a little while ago, he played a audio clip of a reporter asking some official, "So, did the authorities just stand back and let Ferguson burn?"

Really? Like Rush said after the clip, "Damned if you do and damned if you don't". If they had run in and started cracking heads it would have been touted as even more brutality. And when they stand back and leave the animals to their own devices they are slammed for doing nothing.

I say bring the marshmellows and let 'er burn! :popcorn
Exactly.

The stepdad of Michael Brown called for it. He, himself, was yelling "Burn the b*tch down!".

They got what they wanted. They burned the b*tch down.

I was watching the Sheriff of St. Louis County being interviewed on Fox News. He's greatly disappointed the National Guard was not part of an effort on the streets to control the rioters.

I watched a few minutes ago a press conference with the governor there. He's such a joke. Reporters had noted they did not see Guardsmen on the streets assisting the police. The guv stated they (700 of them) were staged at key locations to protect places like the Ferguson PD building and fire department building and other sites. He says more Guardsman will be out tonight. He was being pressed where all the sites were and he dodged the question each time.

MO's LT Governor was severe in his criticism of the governor this afternoon during a press conference stating the Guardsmen were not utilized last night at all.

:(

Finally, someone agrees with me. :yeah

We all pretty much agree with you, dearest. Some of us just think that it's not all the media all the time. For instance, the Breitbart sites have been doing yeoman's work for ages on all manner of topics that really matter.

Breitbart is really more of a blog site. A very long-time good friend writes for them. When I say media, I normally refer to the main network lame stream news media hacks like CNN, MSNBC, etc. Even Fox News has their moments but are the closest thing we have to a news source currently. Even local news agencies cannot get the facts straight 98% of the time. But I admit, I've been jaded with the media for a very long time.

Right now the downtown connector is blocked by protesters in Atlanta.

I figured it would get here.

A couple of tractor-trailers traveling a a high rate of speed would fix that.

I'm personally just sick of the whole damn mess.

Apparently just by being white makes one a racist and an acceptable target from anyone who isn't.

And one of the biggest BullSh*t stories the news has carried in the past few weeks was a lady who was part of the "integration" movement who thinks the government should do more to reintegrate white suburban kids back into inner city "urban" schools since she feels like it's the 1950s all over again because "rich white folks" can afford to move out of (not live in) those areas.

I just don't know what the duck to think any more, but sometimes I'm tired of riding the societal crazy coaster..

I could be flat broke and if I was trapped in "one of those cities" I'd walk my broke butt down the street just to get out. Reminds me of the advice my dad gave me 20 years ago when I asked for his opinion about moving to Atlanta take a new job. Back then the Queen and I were broke and going backwards at a quick pace. My dad's response was, "What do you have to lose?" Best advice anyone ever gave me.

Yes, but it's the mindset, dearest. And I'm not making fun of them or slamming them necessarily, because I know it's inculcated into them for three and four generations now. But if they have a brain, they should be able to figure out hey, my life would be better if I went somewhere else.

As inarticulate as my post was.. it was late and I was about to fall out, you made my point succinctly.

I found it appalling that a person who lived through desegregation is calling for the government to bring down those who've done well for themselves instead of accepting the reality that those who have the means tend to choose where they live and to better their surroundings. She made it a point to couch these choices as segregation and racism on our parts. And even with all the handouts they've been given, and squandered, she felt the disparity could only be remedied by taking more away in order to bring "whites" back down to "their" level under the guise of desegregation, and that would fix the "racism problem" America currently has.

Color me appalled.
