DOJ Tells Employees to Verbally Affirm Homosexuality....

Substitute the word "black" for LGBT in that memo. Now how does it read to you?

Is all that necessary to have a race-friendly workplace? No, you just don't tolerate racism. We had to deal with that in my business, we had one employee who thought it was funny to make racial jokes toward a black employee. I didn't send out a memo like that, I just told them that crap wouldn't be tolerated in this company and I'd fire anyone who did it. Problem solved without a dog and pony show.

There was a time it would have applied.

And handling it that way would have created more problems than it solved.

GD, do not think that there was not sensitivity training for just that.

And how does this change a person's heart or belief? Why are people becoming so stupid these days? I guess people were just stupid all along, but are just now getting the courage to reveal it.

They obviously don't have enough work to do around the DOJ. Proves to me we need another sequester. :tapfoot2

Maybe I missed the part in the article which stated the memo was for managers only. Anyone see it?

The brochure was made for managers, whether the managers passed it along or not, I do not know.

Possibly, but I know that most Fortune 500 companies have it. :dunno

In context of this article alone, where is that stated and how do you arrive at that conclusion?

It's CYA. Just so they can say they did it.

Forcing an employee to sit through a class doesn't change their beliefs. All it might do is put them on notice that certain things aren't allowed. And you can do that through company policy.

Why would I use only one article? Isn't that just what we say here all the time, people just listen to what is in front of them and do not look into the facts themselves?

I do not take one article posted as fact. It came across as slanted and seemed to have great "sound bites" for people to get up in arms about. It did not even have the brochure for us to read. (at the time, could have been updated) So I checked into the info.I looked up different articles and came across the brochure. Posted it for others here to read. Another article states it went to managers and since the brochure specifically addresses that on the front page ........

It might be CYA, but I can tell you some definitely need the class! :))

Really though, were people offended by these types of directives (training, classes, brochures, etc) when it was woman, African Americans, divorce, unwed mothers, etc? (Though I actually do remember lots of discussion regarding insensitivity after Murphy Brown had a baby on tv! :)) )

Fair enough, I did miss it, never saw the other link but went back and read it. Without it I was confused but that's not unusual. Nice to see others here do cross reference and use multiple sources. We're all good now, I will sit down and shut up.
