I just don't get this Trump worship.

I just had a run-in with someone many of you know on Facebook over him. She's a rock solid conservative / Libertarian, but she's all about Trump.

Well, it wasn't moi, but I'm all about him, too. And here's the reason - the GOPe strategery is to split the conservative vote so JEB can win the nomination. Also, they are all beholden to campaign money except DT...he is funding his OWN campaign to the tune of $1B or so. See theconservativetreehouse.com for the background on this. Trump comes along being a plain speaker, zeroing in on issues that actually MATTER to us little tax-paying peons out here in flyover country, and sorry, but he's sounding really good to me. I won't guarantee that I'll vote for him, but I'm solidly behind him right now.

What I don't get is the vitriol surrounding his candidacy and why everybody who doesn't like him think that those of us who do are complete idiots. I don't care if you don't like him, and I'm not gonna call you nasty names. Not that you have, but an AWFUL lot of people have.
He said it himself in the debate...he's been a politician all his life. He has been on the side you hate...the one that bought and sold politicians.

Donald Trump is the ultimate opportunist. He says the things he says because he has hired focus groups to determine which issues push teh voter's buttons. I don't believe a thing he says.

Donald Trump only gives a damn about Donald Trump.

In your opinion. I disagree. Why do you not think he could change (assuming for a minute that your assessment of his past is correct)? Reagan was a Democrat for years before he switched over. I would also say that he's a New Yorker (Diva will back me up on this) - you have to play a COMPLETELY different game if you want to survive up there. You wanna redo your kitchen? Get ready to deal with unions. Wanna buy a piano? Get ready to wait for a union employee to operate the elevator. Etc., etc., etc. TOTAL different world than anywhere else in the country.

But again - I just don't get why so many automatically disbelieve what he says. I mean, I don't mind, but I don't automatically assume anything about any of the other candidates. The fact that he's funding his own campaign gives a lot of weight to me as to backing up what he is saying.
Truth. You must be (or at least give off the appearance) a hard :neenerbutt or people will run you over. Heck, figuratively and literally. :)) Though I would say with most it is just the appearance and they are not like that, except Union, they are like that. Seriously. Not a joke. My union son would not stand a chance in Hades of surviving a day with Northern unions. (He helps people off the clock. Does not take breaks, and is friends with the non union management. :dunno What can I say? He is not thug material..I tried. ::)) )

I'm watching the re-run on CNN, I just spewed tobacco juice when Trump said he would want his Secret Service code name to be "Humble."

This is live...not a re-run.

Really? I assumed it was over, I just turned it on. I didn't get back from choir practice until 9pm so I thought it was already over.

I'll give Trump credit fo rbeing right about the 14th amendment; though what he wants is a pipe dream.

Reagan said the Democrats left him. I agree.

Short of some kind of great revelation in their lives; people's characters tend to stay constant. I see no reason Trump's character would have changed when he decided to run for president. Only his dialogue, because he knows what the people want to hear.

Again, your opinion. Mine differs. And again - I'm not voting for a BFF or a pastor or anything else. I don't care if the President is an atheistic SOB. If he believes in this country and will work for the good of this country, I'm with him. And I don't disbelieve DT when he says this.

I would also mention something I heard somebody else say - they said he reminds them of Rush Limbaugh...a bombastic over-the-top personality, but in a self-deprecating sort of way, knowing that he is blessed. If you watch his interviews like with Jimmy Fallon, et al, you will see his willingness to laugh at himself. And tonight when Jake said what each candidate wanted as his code name for the SS, DT said "humble", and then laughed.

I never mentioned religion.

Only his character.

Not my point...the point was the SOB part.

Dang it, I missed most of it. I'm recording it at 1am and will watch it tomorrow.

I will say that from what little I got to watch Carley did catch my attention, as did Carson.

Not that I think atheists are SOBs.

Note to self: REMEMBER TO STOP DIGGING WHEN YOU'RE IN A HOLE, IDIOT!!! :smh:

Not according to Mark Levin and many other constitutional scholars.

Some of us are realists.

Carson is the only one I heard state that we have to close the boarder AND turn off the spigot that dispenses all the goodies that bring the illegals here. You gotta take away what draws them here or they will continue to find a way.

What the heck have I been saying for several years now? Take away what draws them here, and they will leave on their own.
