Bruce Jenner Endorses Cruz, Wants To Be His "Trans Ambassador"

How are Cruz personal views on gay marriage relevant? I don't care about his personal view on gay marriage, abortion, etc. That's not the job I'm (trying) to send him there to do.
Well I wasn't specifically talking about Cruze but I can say that his views on same-sex marriage are very relevant to plenty of Americans. It seems you are suggesting that people shouldn't take into consideration the views of a person who is running to represent our country? I will always thoughtfully consider the candidates and their stances on issues. And I will choose the one that more closely resembles my ideals and values. Everyone does, or so I thought. Look, I don't wish to continue this debate with you any further because you refuse to actually hear what I'm saying. At this point I feel like I could say the sky was blue and you would tell me that it's not. You and I have different political beliefs and that's okay, at least it's okay with me. Have a good day.

I do the same thing. I have my own list of what's important to me and I compare that with the candidates. I am not a one issue voter. For example, and only as an example, if a candidate was pro-abortion and I wasn't, and every other line item aligned, I could still vote for that candidate.

I have a lot of friends that do not share my political views and I'm okay with that. I didn't think you and I had a problem, but if you are taking your toys and going home, that's fine too. The only thing I've been trying to do is reconcile your statement that Jenner was a hypocrite.

^^This

There is no candidate whom I agree with on every issue. And some of the issues are things they can't do anything about anyway. "Social" issues such as abortion and same-sex marriage fall into that category. The politicians (on both sides) work these issues to get the emotion vote.

In my opinion, we should be electing people who can fix the real problems that they can do something about. Economy, jobs, national security, immigration, fiscal responsibility, etc.

I tried my best to explain to you why I think Jenner is a hypocrite. I don't know what else to say. It's not that I'm taking my toys and going home, I'm just not in the mood to debate it anymore because I feel like I've already made myself clear. You and I don't have a problem. I'm just not having a good day and I'm in no mood to explain myself any further than I already have. I want to agree to disagree.

And how is that any different than Jenner simply choosing the candidate "that more closely resembles his ideas and values" ? ? ?

:dunno:

Like I said, I NEVER suggested who she should or shouldn't choose. I only stated my opinion on her support for Cruz. It suprised me given her role as a transgender advocate that she would support a guy who is unfriendly to trans issues. Simple.

Just a thought, but if Jenner really is a conservative and realizes as I do that there's really nothing a president Cruz could do regarding GLBT issues; it might make sense to Jenner to support him. Of the candidates still standing; Cruz is the Constitutional Conservative of the bunch.

That actually makes sense to me.

I can assure you that the issues transgender people care about didn't end on the day same-sex marriage became legal.

I didn't mean that. I was just suggesting that if Jenner really does have conservative beliefs, and acknowledges that none of the candidates is going to make a difference in transgender issues; I can see how he could support Cruz.

Just throwing this out there GD, Citizens United extended personal rights to groups. It said in essence that individuals do not lose their rights when they join in groups. It was a broad decision far beyond the scope of the question before the court, and that's what threw so many observers for a loop.

Dangerous, to say the least.
