Another Diva that loves the gays!!

I made a post earlier and apparently didn't hit the post button.

I think the media is making more to do of his statement than it really is. All he is really saying is the "Love the sinner-Hate the sin" philosophy that many of us here have mentioned time and again. He wasn't endorsing homosexuality in any way.

His honeymoon will likely be short lived. As soon as he goes into sanctity of life mode the media will have him for lunch.

But I believe him.

(not directed at you..just saying that dumb phrase (anyone know where that came from? I never heard it until the last 10 years) does not make it true. You do not love a person in one breath and bash them in another in my opinion.)

Can we not express disapproval for what (just for example) an adulterer does, but still love the person?

Do you use that phrase in that situation?

I can understand the fact that is someone makes a mistake...say son was late for curfew and did not call. I would be furious, hate the fact he was irresponsible, but obviously still love him.
I can understand the fact that some got drunk, had a one night stand, you hate the fact they did it, but you could still love them as a person.
I do not understand how you could love someone that you believe sins daily and with your (general) belief lives their life in sin.

That is why I do not like the phrase. I can see in instances that it would apply, but not how it is thrown around to explain how many feel about gay men and woman.

I just believe (and it could be my upbringing ) ) that the Pope is not judging, whereas many time (it comes across) as others are and just toss out a cliche' to make things all better.

(Again, not saying you, just in general..so do you know where that phrase came from?)

I really did not notice any difference between what the Pope said and what Christians on this board have expressed.

That phrase isn't found in scripture. The intent is understandable and admirable but those two things aren't qualifications for biblical doctrine. Here's an article I've posted before about that concept that may clear it up a bit. I believe the notion of this phrase is a clear indication of "New Age" doctrine infiltrating our scripture disciplines because it sounds pretty good but a deeper understanding may shed new light on it. I used to 'accept' this thought but was always disturbed by it for some reason. I hope this helps or at best stirs believers to study the concept behind the words. The phrase itself is from Ghandi and his teachings, not Christ.

I say that if we love as Jesus commanded, make disciples as He commanded, then the Holy Spirit is the one to take care of the rest. It's not up to me to condemn someone because of the sin in their life, but it is up to me to show folks what Jesus has done in mine.

You are correct. The only people the Bible makes clear that Christians are to judge actions are other Christians. Nowhere can we judge the unsaved. Their condemnation of sin is already there and it is up to us to share SALVATION with them.
