I love that he continues to practice humility and love for everyone - this is a great example for Christians!

You need to start a better title thread to bring them out of the woodwork! (You can talk about anything inside...we just have to lure them in.)

Gay people should be integrated into society instead of ostracized, Pope Francis told journalists after his weeklong trip to Brazil. Answering a question about reports of homosexuals in the clergy, the pope answered, "If someone is gay and he searches for the Lord and has good will, who am I to judge?"

HAHAHAHAA That is hilarious! hahaha FWIW, Francis is one of my all-time favorite names for women AND men (Frances, of course, for women). Don't forget that Frank Sinatra's name was Francis. ;)

I don't have a problem with what Pope Francis said. What I have seen, he did not endorse them being priests, but said he would not judge. Difference. I'd like to hear more about what his actual thoughts are.

"Being gay is a tendency. The problem is the lobby," ANSA quotes the pontiff saying. "The lobby is unacceptable, the gay one, the political one, the Masonic one."

When I was a kid, my grandmother would talk about "Francis" and I always thought she had another sister. It wasn't until I was a teenager that I figured out "Francis" was her brother.

As to the pope, I don't have a problem with what he said. I actually wonder why some elements of Christianity have such a fixation on homosexuality as opposed to other issues.

I made a post earlier and apparently didn't hit the post button.

I think the media is making more to do of his statement than it really is. All he is really saying is the "Love the sinner-Hate the sin" philosophy that many of us here have mentioned time and again. He wasn't endorsing homosexuality in any way.

His honeymoon will likely be short lived. As soon as he goes into sanctity of life mode the media will have him for lunch.

Why, the media expects the Pope to be pro-life, he is Catholic..... :dunno

But they aren't getting that from Francis - he has maintained his humility.

But I believe him.

(not directed at you..just saying that dumb phrase (anyone know where that came from? I never heard it until the last 10 years) does not make it true. You do not love a person in one breath and bash them in another in my opinion.)

Can we not express disapproval for what (just for example) an adulterer does, but still love the person?
