The precedent it would set could be used by a dem president to combat climate change or gun violence and we know their solutions for those 'emergencies' are ones that would limit freedom.
 
Fed workers will be employed and paid. There’s an emergency at the border. It’s not a new emergency but one only Trump is willing to address. Don’t give me the “He can’t do that” line either. Obama couldn’t force a mandate but he damn sure did. At least they’re reading this one before signing it. The question is how much pork is hidden in the fine print.
 
Don't think for a minute that a future dem president wouldn't use this as a precedent for declaring an emergency on gun violence and attempting to limit gun ownership. Or declaring an emergency on climate change and attempting to implement some kind of socialist carbon tax or similar.

And explain stuff clear as sunshine to the American public!

What we need to do (IMO)... is to move forward FIXING things and Making America Great Again.

Sooner or later... we can say: Hey lefties, try to keep up... :D
 
Trump should have used his leadership of the Republican party and his unique deal making skills to get funding for the wall passed in the first 2 years of his presidency. Sure, Congress is partly at fault but as the leader of the party, Trump should have been able to get it done.

Agree, but guns have a little thing called Constitution in their favor.
 
Anyone who doesn't think that the Democrats are intentionally pushing him to set this precedent is a rube. Two words...gun control. Do you honestly think that President Biden won't parade school kids around and quote bias statistics to declare "gun violence" an emergency? How do you think images of scared kids fleeing their school will compare to a few Mexicans walking across the border on TV. Pelosi is pulling these strings, not Trump.
 
I don't believe that an executive order is the means of dealing with the situation. It does set a bad precedent, but its one that the progressives would have no problem pulling the trigger on and would gleefully do so. Trump's executive order will be challenged in the supreme court and I believe at the end of the day it would pass. With that said, SCOTUS would also have to rule on progressive executive orders dealing with gun control and climate change. Both issues can be defended against on a constitutional basis and with the current make up of the court, I would think the odds are in the conservative favor.
 
I tend to agree with Jamie Weaver...
As long as SCOTUS is stacked conservative... the conservative Constitutional view will prevail.

We cannot leave the border open... worrying about what might happen tomorrow... we need to close the border today!

How to fix our country...
Unless ALL of us who understand what works and what does not...
Get off our hands and help our fellow citizens understand...
We as a country are done!

IMO the only way to fix this mess...
Is for voters to quit election folks that destroy the country, and start electing folks that understand the founding documents.
Otherwise... we are done!

I am glad I am in the autumn of my life... I truly feel sorry for kids (both children and young adults)...
They are either gonna have to change things (painful change)... or deal with a declining world!
 
It's a real shame for this country that the SCOTUS has to be stacked conservative in order to preserve the Constitution. Politics has truly become ugly when a party has to stack the court to push a political agenda; surely not what the founding fathers had in mind.
 
It doesn't make Trump the reason some left-wing-nut president decides to do a national emergency in reference to climate change or anything else for that matter. Does anyone really think that the democrats running to be president are sitting around waiting on Trump's permission or follow his lead? Do any of you believe a socialist president will even be as restrained as Trump has been? Of course not. Obama did it with DACA, it just wasn't termed a national emergency but an executive order. You remember his "phone" and "pen" comment. This is nothing new folks and there's no question a lib will do it in the future. That's why they need to be defeated....not compromised with.
