More evidence that transgender bathrooms are a bad idea

LOL

You know that a lot of terrible things have happened since this thread started, many right here in Paulding. Yet we are still talking about people and bathrooms. No one is going to change anyone's mind.
Do what makes you feel safe. Pee, don't pee. Shop at Target, don't.
I do find it odd that of all of the horrible things that happen in this world this is what certain people choose to worry about.

I posted this in the "Boycotting Target" thread, but I meant to post it here. So I'll just re-post it:

Guys, seriously. I love all of you. But please realize what you're all saying.

Men living as women have been using women's bathrooms for as long as I have been alive. Ladies, more than likely you have at one point shared the restroom with a man living as a woman, but didn't realize it.

This has never been about promoting Jim Bob's ability to use the women's restroom. And you know good and well Jim Bob isn't going to. i would much rather let a man living as a woman share my bathroom rather than make "her" use the men's, where The threat of Jim Bob making threatening remarks at the very least, or Jim Bob beating the snot out of her at the very most, is very real.

And if you are worried someone will harm your child, you shouldn't be letting him/her go into a restroom alone in the first place. The possibility of my 4 year old being molested in the men's bathroom if he goes alone is always at the front of my brain - the few times he's run in the men's because he doesn't want to "be a baby" you better believe I marched on after him and pulled him out. I understand his frustration. But he doesn't understand the thread of Pedo Phil.

Folks, this should have NEVER been an issue on either side. It has never been in an issue in the past, and it shouldn't be one now. There are far, far greater things to be worried and concerned about than this. This is just dumb. And it makes me wonder what we are being distracted from.

People need to stop being so upset and ranting about this, and put their energy into being passionate about something else. Like maybe the growing number of panhandlers in Hiram. We either have an enormous homeless problem, or an enormous drug problem. Or how about the child abuse in this county? MrB was almost selected for jury duty on a case where a man severely abused his 5 children, aged 1-8. I will spare details, but it includes being chained up and taped to walls for hours at a time.

And with that, I just want to say I love all of you, and this is just my .02.

This is not the hill y'all want to die on.

You guys do realize this is political, right?

It's the Democrat's latest emotional issue to get the voters riled up at the Republicans. And it's a perfect time for a diversion as well.

They've done it with race, abortion, same-sex marriage, etc. Now transgenders is the emotional vote du jour.

Looks like it's working well, as it usually does. Sadly, the Democrats are quite good at this, and the GOP sucks at the game.

This is not the hill y'all want to die on.

I think most of us realize that transgenders in other gender's restrooms is nothing new, and I doubt most are concerned about more of that. The issue I have is legitimizing it, and opening the door (pun intended) to abuse of such laws and policies. It already has, and will continue to make it easier for perverts to go into the wrong restroom for reasons other than to pee.

The real problem with this is how vaguely they are defining transgenders; basically as anyone who identifies at the other gender. That's a wide-open invitation for trouble!!

The only people who truly are transgenders (and they still aren't biologically) are the ones who have had the total retrofit. Meaning, their sex organs have been converted from A/C to D/C. It seems to me that these people could have their gender designation legally changed, and then there shouldn't be an issue. The others, Bruce Jenner being the best known one at current, are actually drag queens.

Now...I really don't care if someone wants to play Mr. Potato Head with their sex organs so long as they don't expect me to pay for it. I'm very big on personal freedom. But one person's freedoms can sometimes end when they begin to trod on someone else's personal freedoms. And that is what is happening here is some cases.

I keep hearing about their (transgender's) rights. But under our constitution; individuals have rights, not groups. And the trend in this country of recent has been to dish out group rights. This is a very dangerous course that could cause, and might already be causing a loss of individual rights. We are starting to think more about the groups and minorities than we are the individual, which could undermine the very concepts of freedom and liberties this nation was founded on. If anyone wants to do some heavy reading in the Communist Manifesto, you will find that under their concept, overall welfare was generally favored over individual rights. In contrast; the original concept that our Constitution was born of believed that individual liberty was what gave such strength to the unity or our nation.

I know some of you who support this do so from a standpoint of love and compassion, and I do appreciate that. Those of you who know me well also know that I, too am a person of love and compassion. But there's also a side of me that is very logical and pragmatic, and it sees trouble written all over this trend.

I respectfully urge everyone to move beyond the emotional aspect of this issue and consider the potential damage of both this issue and the general direction we've been going in. In 1957, Nikita Khrushchev said while addressing western ambassadors that they (Communism) would defeat us without firing a shot. Some translations said bury us, but you get the drift. If you guys will take a step back and look at the direction we've been going, the move to the left by both political parties, the continued expansion of the federal government, etc; perhaps you will see, as I do, that Khrushchev's prophecy is unfolding right before our eyes. And they have been smart about it; they take a little here and a little there instead of just converting us to Socialism overnight. This transgender issue is the latest "little here" that they are taking. And we are happily giving these little bits to them in the name of love and compassion.

Yes, I know some of you will read this and roll your eyes. But others know I'm right, and that we are headed for a very different kind of United States that we won't like very much if we allow this trend to continue.

:sermon:

GD, I agree with some of what you're saying, but in this particular issue I respectfully disagree. You know I love ya, so don't take it personally. LOL

No law, either for or against, whatever, should be made about this issue. The less laws, the better. But I do not see this as a gateway (or lack of a better term) to let pervs be pervs and pedos be pedos.

I have never once, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever in my 35 years of life been touched inappropriately or harassed by a transgender (or gay for that matter) but I have on many, many occasions been touched, grouped, had penises shown to me (2 times! Once when I was 16, the other while I was driving down I75. And both times the man was showing me he was getting his rocks off) by men in the middle of people out in the open.

The other day at Home Depot a creepo man with beer breathe wrapped one arm around my waist and the other across my chest touching my breasts from behind and asked me in his best disgusting sexy voice if he could be my snuggle bunny. This was a weekday at 1pm at the key kiosk in Home Depot.

In Nashville last fall, my two girlfriends and I were dancing in a honky think while our husbands had beers at a near by table. Three men came up and began to touch us, grab us, and rub their junk against us. Before we could do anything our husbands were there and so were bouncers who tossed them out.

At another one right after that, a similar situation except a man walked up to me, grabbed my butt, picked me up and tried to wrap my legs around his waist. Before my husband could do anything about it, a bouncer and my husband were there and he was out.

This actually happens on a regular basis. I am not even exaggerating. My husband hates to let me go places alone.

I am more concerned with walking through a public place and being accosted by a random man than I am worried about pervs in the women's bathroom. I use don't see that happening.

re GD's ac/dc comment: I do not agree that the only individuals that are transgender are the ones fully changed. Many can not afford that change or are working towards it, yet live ever single day as the other gender. Every day they look exactly like a male or female, and in reality leave themselves open to violence if they were to use the restroom of their birth gender.

Again, as unemotional as I can say this, unless you are out their making a change for this or another cause (which many more I find much more important in this world) why are we going over and over this? Us 20, and our opinions, for or against, is not making a difference.

I agree with the no-law policy. But liberals are pushing laws that give new rights to transgenders, and that is what is driving the laws to block it.

They should have just left it alone. But they didn't, and now it's a mess.

Privately owned businesses can make whatever policies they want, but they have to live with them good or bad.

I'm actually involved in a lot of good causes, but this is not one of them. And this is part of what discussion forums are for. I will also point out that many more people read than post.

I know this sounds surreal, but I am not joking. These things really happen. And they happen to my girlfriends. It's not that I a super model or anything (I assure you, I am not) but it happens to me, and it happens to my friends. Kids are molested in bathrooms but strangers, and at home by people they know and who are supposed to love them.

And the truth is I am just tired of listening to people about it because the point is this: transgendered people have been using bathrooms they identify with for years and years. I just don't think that suddenly bathrooms will be dangerous because of it. It just isn't. If we are going to be up in arms about something, be up in arms at the fact that women are inappropriately touched and harnessed so often that it is so normal that per a can do it out in the open and no one cares.

This I agree with it 100%.

We've pretty much agreed with this.

It's the can of worms they've opened up with the terribly vague language of anyone who identifies as the opposite sex may use that rest room. That already has the perverts passing themselves off as women just to get into the ladies room.

There is no problem with conversation, but do you not find it a bit odd, the only conversations that go this long are for LGBT posts?

Because they are controversial.

But just as is with the transgender issue; if the left would stop pushing this stuff, the right wouldn't be in such a tizzy about it.

Leave it all alone. The vast majority of us don't care what people do on their own time with their own money.

The left don't give a damn about these people either, they just use these emotional issues to rally the troops.

Sorry, I guess I had more beer than I should have. :(
