Time For A New Mattress

We've been on a Beautyrest Expedition Plush for the last 11 years. That's the issue on the firm/firm plush ... are we ready for a change or should we stick with the firm plush and count on the newer mattress being enough of a support difference?
Do you still have your mattress tag on your bed? The reason I ask is that most of the newer firm plush mattresses have many more coils than the ones in the past. The tags sewn on the mattress usually list the coil count and you can look at that verses one you are now interested in purchasing. I am also not sure if 11 years ago that the coils were individually encased which most of the higher end beds are now. That also will give more support and supposedly longevity.

Ours was pretty fancy shmancy at the time. If I remember correctly, it was part of the first wave of the high end mattresses that don't transfer movement. O.M.G. was that so nice when we first switched ... one of us could move without disturbing the other.

:laugh A funny...you know my child is a high school senior, anyway, he could not get over that him jumping into the other side of the bed did not launch me anymore! It made him mad. Obviously our last mattress did. :huh

Holy Crap!!! YOu are never going to believe this, but the mattress that we have had for nearly 12 years is also a Beautyrest Expedition Plush! :laugh

We need one too...ours is 12 years old.

Ahem!!! MamaHog meant 12 months old. All the sweet love making in this household requires a new mattress every year!!!

Wouldn't have lasted that long if you weren't by yourself.

'Cause if'n ye don't, yer in trouble. 'Cause it's agin' the law to rip off 'em 'ar taigs, y'know... ;)

i love mine... I had a pillow top and hated it.... I now have a box top... it is back friendly and I LOVE IT!!!

I have a friend whose mother gave her their fairly new Sleep Number bed...what a piece of crap!!! We disassembled it for transport, and it was just totally rickety!

I personally LOVE LOVE LOVE the TemperPedic. Now if I could just afford one. :D I also HIGHLY recommend Kingsdown mattresses. They're a very old company from NC and they don't advertise. I have a set on the bed in one of my guest bedrooms, and it is FABULOUS!!! You'll have to check their web site to see who sells them; Mattress Giant used to, but they're out of business, I think. Or in my area, anyway.

Let us know what you decide.

I could sleep on the bare floor better than I could sleep on most mattresses. I HATE soft!

softness kills me... I need a happy medium

So I bit the bullet and drove to The Dump today. Of course there was virtually nothing left there from their sale but they still had some pretty amazing deals. Ended up picking one that I think we're really going to enjoy and I soooooooooo need it now, too. Getting on and off of all of those mattresses absolutely killed my back. :( And when will my new mattress be here? Not until NEXT Sunday. Ahhhhhhhhhh! :BH

I had a waterbed at one point. It was very comfortable but the snorkel and water wings got really irritating so we sold it.

I took a long time in the store and ended up nixing the Temperpedic and the Paramount and narrowed it down to two Airelooms. Ended up with the Aireloom Almond Firm. I can't wait for it to get here. I have to buy new sheet sets now, though. It is a much deeper mattress than our current one.

(And unlike some people, I won't need to get a running start to get on my new bed. :)) )
